Makes sense. I spoke to 3Ls in late apirl and they told me that only 1/3 of the kids are employed.
If the school gave out the employment number of 30%, I have a feeling it might be slightly less than that. Law school career services tend to embellish data. The real rate is prob more like 25-30%.

Doesn't WUSTL have like 300+ a class too? That's like a hundred people or so with market jobs/clerkships, not too shabby. However, I think that 30% employed being "not too shabby" just shows why it's pretty stupid to go to law school at the moment.

At least at wustl, if you are among the majority who strike out, you are in much less debt than most other peer schools. With my Low Debt + IBR, I can afford to take a lower paying/potential non law job if things didn't work out. At sticker the majority of kids will never realistically be able to pay off their loans without IBR + Frugality.

Can someone start a separate "bitch about WUSTL" thread, maybe in the "Discuss Your Law School" forum? The presence of all this targeted negativity in a generally-themed thread gives the false impression that the general consensus is "I regret WUSTL," and that just isn't the case.

Obviously the lack of employment movement has led to some people venting their displeasure. I'm sure the thread will get back on track once someone has something to report.

Was gonna point that out earlier. Cards are one of the most beloved teams in the league, 2nd most world series all time, and are in the playoffs. When I visited St. Louis one year during gameday, the town was really buzzing. Hard to say they have no sports team.

The WUSTL c/o 2013 has one of the largest contingents on TLS, which probably leads to a greater amount of discussion and lamenting about jobs. Things here objectively suck and I am way more down on the school now than I was when I got here, but things here are no worse (and are probably better) than a lot of our Midwestern T25 peers. And I've said this before, but I know a LOT of people who read and post ITT who have offers who haven't even mentioned them.

Things are not going all that well for most of our class, but this thread is still getting a very slanted view.

If I remember correctly, they had the longest streak of consecutive playoff appearances in sports history. They may have stunk the past few years, but I see them on the upswing.

That said, I am pretty sure I know who this anon user is, and he is super down on the Midwest (Midwaste?) constantly, so take it with a grain of salt. Almost everyone I know IRL who has come to WUSTL has enjoyed their first year and a half in STL. And most people from the Midwest generally like the Midwest a lot. Besides the shitty job market in STL and the Midwest generally, I have nothing negative to say about this "TTT part of the U.S."

The school doesn't feed well into the midwest. That was one of the major points I wanted to make. I am actually from the midwest and want to stay in the midwest. Check the amount of alumni in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan at midlaw/biglaw firms. There are almost no WUSTL alumni in those states. If you compare WUSTL in those states vs ND or UIUC the results are shocking....
When you have associates in the midwest asking me questions about my school and saying they never heard of it... you have a problem. I know this is an anectdote, but I think it shows that WUSTL has a huge problem placing people in the midwest.
