Does anyone have an idea of the NY offices salaries and progressions for, say, salaries after 3 years?

BX started at $56,500, went to $58,500 after bar admission in 2012. Now C/O 2012 is at $65,000 + yearly bonus of roughly $1,000 - $2,000.

Hello- did you hear this from an official source or are you basing this on previous years-

My understanding is that once Nassau receives their "official" budget they will know how many new ADA's they can hire.

The new salary for admitted attorney's in BX is $63, 300, just so you have more recent numbers to use when calculating.

I heard the new salary for BK is 60,000 as well. That kind of sucks for the c/o 2012 in BX if they're only making $1,700 more than newly admitted.

Huh?

Where are you getting that number? Their application for this class still has the salary for admitted attorneys at $60,500. Not to mention the fact that $63,300 would put them above Manhattan, which never happens. I received an offer from the Bronx this cycle, and my understanding was always that it would be $60,500 for admitted attorneys.

ETA: okay, well their URL to the application is not working, but just go into the legal staff hiring page, click on the hyperlink for the employment application, and scroll down to the last page where it has the salary information.

The 63,300 number might be referring to the fact that all NYC Managerial employees, including those at the DA offices and Law Department, got a 5% raise this past year. That includes people who started in Fall 2014 and Spring 2015.

I don't think the 5% raise means that the starting salary has been increased, though.

None of you are correct. I accepted an offer at the Bronx office and just recently (within the last week) asked for a document from their office confirming my acceptance of the offer and the salary (for purposes of providing proof of income to brokers/landlords/etc towards 30x income on an apartment) and that letter stated in no uncertain terms 61,200 as the starting salary.

Hi folks.

Haven't posted since my law school days, but this forum is relevant to me again.

I'm a lower T14 grad with federal clerkship currently working at a satellite office of a AmLaw 100 Firm. Previously worked at a firm in NYC (where my clerkship also was), but moved back home to get more on my feet financially.

I got to the second round of DANY last time I applied, and I got invited for a first round when I applied again recently. Any tips for how to prepare as a lateral?

I posted about Nassau. A friend of mine called and they told him the end of April. It is very unofficial.

Hey guys, just a word of advice for those waiting on Nassau DA's Office: be prepared to wait. Awhile.

I was an applicant last year. I had my first round interview in Summer of 2013, 2nd round interview in December of 2013, and my final 3rd round interview with the DA (it was Kathleen Rice back then) in March 2014. I was told by the office that they would be making decisions at the end of April - others on here have recently posted that the office has said the same thing this year too.

The end of April came and went and I did not hear anything. At some point May I contacted the office - I was graduating soon and was hoping to have a job offer in-hand on graduation day. But alas, no news. May came and went.

I contacted them in June and they said they'd make decisions soon. You get the picture. I'm not sure if DA Rice's campaign for Congress somehow slowed down the process, but I did not hear from them until the first week of August. They offered me a position, which I really wanted to take - it was practically my dream job - but unfortunately at that point it was too late - I couldn't keep waiting around to hear from them, and while I had waited my wife had been offered a job in a different part of the country and accepted it. If Nassau had gotten back to me at the end of April, or May, etc. I would have jumped at the opportunity and would be working there right now.

Anyways, I just wanted to pass along my experience for those who are still waiting - it may take longer than expected to hear back. Or maybe last year was unusual.

Wow good for you. Anyone else hear from them?

Also just out of curiosity had you previously told them that you received offers from anywhere else- or basically did they call out of the blue with an offer

Thanks. I got the "final group for consideration" email in March. Did not tell them of any other offers or anything. Then got a call from them on Thursday.

I have an offer pending with a DA's office but I'm still waiting on cook county. My understanding is Cook County will not be making any decisions for the next 1-2 weeks... And unless I'm mistaken... offers/rejections both come via mail? Can anyone confirm this? Mail? email? etc?

I was told April, so I'm thinking it could really be any day now. Looking at other threads here it seems like people got offers via calls in mid-may, and rejection/waitlist letters around the same time. So, who knows?

Did you contact Cook County about your offer? When's your deadline to let the other office know?

I did contact Cook County- unfortunately, they said it was out of their hands and could not give me an answer. I got an extension to answer my offer but even so, I'm not sure I'll get word from Cook County before my answer is due.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
