They weren’t talking about being able to tell someone’s background from a LinkedIn profile, they were talking about who should/shouldn’t do it.
Which thoughts were expressly couched in racial and socioeconomic terms. As if somehow those capture the totality of relevant factors or create some decision tree of worthiness.

Hey, the ill-fated anon here. I mean...yes? My whole point is socieconomic: if your literal lineage has never had a professional job in this country it's probably more excusable / not as cringey to post an announcement on LinkedIn about an SA and celebrating your accomplishment in context. If you're Thurston McGee III and your dad's a lawyer and your mom's a consultant, it's definitely more cringey.

Don't even try to make this a race thing, either. Obviously I said white guy because of how lopsided our society is on that front; there's a reason "comfortable white UVA kid" evokes a certain image in your mind. Obviously it wouldn't be cringey for a white descendant from like miners or construction workers to post, and obviously it would be cringe for a POC who summers by idk going to Wimbledon every year to post.

...but you knew all this and just wanted to start shit, right?

What the fuck is all of this. If you are "posting" on linkedin you're already a goner. If you post about accepting a job or winning a case or whatever you're a fucking loser (unless you're a solo practitioner trying to drive business). Change your job info or whatever, if need be, when you're trying to look for another job

You were the one who mentioned race. Stop trying to blame others for picking up what you put down.

This clearly isn't going anywhere, and I'd rather just cut off a pointless discussion than go through the thread to out all the pointless anon use.

For future reference: The anon feature is not for your spicy-hot takes. It is for protecting personal information.
