Has anyone else heard anything from Kirkland Chicago? Waiting on cb or ding from them before accepting my 2L SA offer...

Not sure if you're the same anon, but I had Kirkland CB yesterday, offer first thing this morning.

When did you hear from them about scheduling your callback?

Sent my resume through Symplicity (I believe deadline was July 21). They initially reached out on August 3rd, scheduled callback for yesterday. There were both 2L and 3L candidates there yesterday.

Congrats on the offer, I sent my resume in through the same process and unfortunately never heard back, so I guess I'll have to chalk that one up as a ding. Onwards we go

Applied through Symplicity, also emailed a partner alum (unclear if said person forwarded my docs though).

Did you know the partner beforehand and butter him up with the song & dance routine ("just want 'advice,' that's all"), or did you cold email him and in that very first email cut to the chase by attaching your materials and noting that HR should also have a copy as a way to tell the partner that you're interested in a job there?

Cold email.

How did you frame the email? I'm thinking of doing the same, but want to appear to be saying "Hey, I sent an app, make note of me."

I know quite a few firms that did 3L hiring last year are not doing it this year. I asked friends to speak to the HR in their firms and many said tha there was no plan to hire outside of the class.

The firms I want to work at are not doing 3L hiring. Do I have any chance at working there in a couple years, or have those ships sailed?

For context, I will be working at a similar firm in the same market. I want to switch because of practice areas.

FYI: BuckleySandler DC is hiring 3Ls for Fall '17. A significant number. Apply via their website, no specific job opening, but definitely hiring.

If possible, I would ask a contact (meaning a friend, not recruiting) at the firm where they need bodies. I would also check the firm's job listings to see if one of the groups you're interested in has a posting. Other than that, just go with what you're interested in but I would limit to 2-3 groups. I think it would make it harder to land an offer if you only meet like 1 person from each group on a CB.

Yea, a friend of mine connected me with the firm, and they told me of the three principal practices that need bodies. I put those and a fourth that may be a bit popular.

So I've been cold-mailing firms to see if they are hiring 3Ls. I've received sporadic responses and a lot of them say that they are not hiring for Fall 2017. Can y'all kind and good-hearted TLSers with more knowledge advise what firms and offices are hiring 3Ls this year?

Similar. Most firms I talk to say they are not hiring. If it's not happening now, is a lateral in a few years the best option?

Also interested. Anybody aware of firms hiring in the NY market? At this point I've lost motivation to network because what good is that if the firms just aren't hiring 3Ls...

Two weeks ago, a friend of mine forwarded my material to their firm. They responded and said that theybwould get back to me "shortly ". I havent heard back. Should i send them a short "hey, whats up?" email?
