Are you basing "ranked lower" off the vault regional rankings? Those are pretty worthless. The firm is not in the same league as the national V50 (or whatever) biglaw firms that have gone to 180k, nor do they pretend to be as evidenced by the fact that they weren't 160k before the raise.Anonymous User wrote:Totally get that, however, why would other LA firms raise (some ranked lower) and Manatt not? They have like under 100 associates from what I can tell. That is a tiny hit to PPP.Anonymous User wrote:Agree with this. LA is generally considered a difficult market to secure employment given that there are not as many jobs compared to other markets + oversupply of lawyers that went to school in and out of state.gaddockteeg wrote:
The thing with LA (and CA in general) is that there's a pretty big shortage of law jobs and a pretty big oversupply of lawyers. My own firm has lost people to Manatt's LA office despite our higher salary.

To be honest, yes I was in part. Regardless, they should read this, "Why one Big Law firm says it is really in the ‘talent business'"Anonymous User wrote:Are you basing "ranked lower" off the vault regional rankings? Any news from Patterson? I can't imagine that they will refuse to follow suit.

Removed Kaye Scholer - market match!
Removed Venable based on ATL update but only bc this list is "firms that have yet to commit on raises." Some TTT behavior from them.

Yeah, you'd think Patterson would have moved by now. Especially considering they're only in NYC and according to their website, they purport to "offer[] salaries competitive with other major firms."Anonymous User wrote:Any news from Patterson? I can't imagine that they will refuse to follow suit.

supposedly the management meeting is happening at the end of the month, so Today. Who knows if they'll give any indication about movement in salary though. Starting to lose faith.Anonymous User wrote:So should we lose hope for Foley & Lardner?

I don't think it's possible to do nothing at this point. Summers might have to lose hope, there'll likely be compression for seniors, and I wouldn't be surprised if raises don't kick in until September or January. But I'd be shocked if they didn't at least match $180k in NYC, D.C., and Chicago, with smaller raises in other offices. It's just too widespread now.Anonymous User wrote:supposedly the management meeting is happening at the end of the month, so Today. You can take Troutman, Sutherland, and Kilpatrick off the shame list. They increased in all markets--though it's not clear whether it's a full match.

Then they don't deserve to be off the shame list, you dig?Anonymous User wrote:You can take Troutman, Sutherland, and Kilpatrick off the shame list. They increased in all markets--though it's not clear whether it's a full match.
