Pretty much - it's like those "Who's Who" invitation emails you always got in undergrad. Super Lawyers says they have a "patented selection process" that includes "independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluation", but I think if you can get a couple of your friends/coworkers to nominate you and say some nice things about you, you're in.BigZuck wrote:It's just an advertising tool, right?A. The cape colors differ, of course.
Like, if you look at criminal defense in Houston, Dick Deguerin is on page two and he doesn't have a picture. If this were like a real list he'd be all over that thing, toward or at the very top.

You would need more than a couple peers to nominate you. It's an advertising tool, of course. But you're not getting into the Top 100 of Super Lawyers unless you're one of the best litigation attorneys in the state.

False - Spoiler alert!!!! 90% of these things are bought, 10% are given to people that deserve them to make it look "legit." A buddy has a mortgage business he paid to be list as one of the "TOP 10" mortgage companies in Texas.JohannDeMann wrote:You would need more than a couple peers to nominate you. that's my point. super lawyers is not like those; it's one of the 10% that is not bought and is not gamed by telling people to click a link for you. the top 100 super lawyers in texas are some of the biggest litigation names in the game. most of them have won hundreds of millions in jury verdicts.Anonymous User wrote:False - Spoiler alert!!!! 90% of these things are bought, 10% are given to people that deserve them to make it look "legit." Is SuperLawyers a real thing? I guess I thought it was like content based advertising.

I don't know when the goalposts moved to talking about just the Top 100 on their list, and I'm sure they truly are "super" lawyers (whatever that means). But their membership is open to a LOT more than 100 lawyers, and my point was that simply getting the "Super Lawyer" moniker doesn't appear to be too difficult.JohannDeMann wrote:that's my point. super lawyers is not like those; it's one of the 10% that is not bought and is not gamed by telling people to click a link for you. the top 100 super lawyers in texas are some of the biggest litigation names in the game. most of them have won hundreds of millions in jury verdicts.Anonymous User wrote:False - Spoiler alert!!!! 90% of these things are bought, 10% are given to people that deserve them to make it look "legit."
