Is it just the money? Or is it part weird junior/midlevel Inception-type spin, where it's not that the actual SA itself is "fun", it's really just the last time you get the perks of biglaw without the crushing realities of the job, making the memory of the SA itself "fun"?
damn, dude. sorry.
looks like I'm gonna fit in this role quite nicely

Having worked real jobs before, i'm kinda looking at it the same way as you. The money is definitely going to be fucking sweet tho. My plan is to save as much as I can and blow it during 3L, the last year I'll have minimal responsibilities for a while.
Edit: accidental anon. This is bmore.

Checking in. Team not buying Park Aves. No offer? Looking forward to spending the summer freaking out about every critical piece of advice we get from partners.

Class.
No but for real, they are an iconic shoe and neurotic people (most people in Biglaw) notice that kind of thing.
So if I only own black carlyles should i call my firm now and tell them i have to quit or is there a way to recover? i was planning on buying on the fifth aves in dark brown and just going back and forth. acceptable or no offer?

There isn't one:

Seriously though, it is slightly more versatile, but only insofar as I would not wear fifth aves to interview. Otherwise, they are interchangeable.
OP, does it really matter in Milwaukee?

Checking in. Buying some Edmonds today, and "joyfully" saving the rest of my money for wedding ring. Wahoo life!
ETA: Not all the rest of my money, I'm not an idiot.

The firm I was at last summer had falcons nesting outside one of the floors' windows. They would eat their prey up there.

I'm going to try and work on my conversational skills in low pressure situations (like ones where the person is being paid to be nice to me.. person cutting my hair for instance) to build up confidence to not be too awkward to offer.

Depends on the firm. But for most in the v51 range, plain toe = no offer... Sorry, anon

AE's are nice shoes, sure. But definitely NOT necessary for SA. Or even first few years as an associate. My Cole Haans got me through fine this summer and are still in fine shape to last a while when I begin working at the firm this summer. And, IIRC, none of the guys in my SA class had AE's.

Outed as living in a fly-over secondary
But seriously, I would hope that no one actually thinks they
need AE's to get offered...

I have a story for you two CRAVEN ANON COWARDS. This is the story: I was a SA in a flyover secondary market this past summer. Don't want to say the market because I'm not anon (it was Houston though). One day I was walking to lunch with 3 other male SAs and 2 associates. All 5 of them were wearing walnut Strands. I was the only one in the group not wearing walnut Strands! I don't want to say what I was wearing because I'm not anon (they were chili Carlyles though).
That is a 100% true story. No AEs=no offer is a saying for a reason. Because it's true (not really though).

Can we talk suit brands? Is everybody sticking with Brooks Brothers/Suit Supply/J Crew level suits or is anybody really blowing their SA money on 1-3k suits? (custom suit, designer brand, etc.)

I imagine it took some real courage to post this, so thank you for sharing. I don't know if I've heard of a more cringeworthy walk of shame story.

In Milwaukee, the entire shoe brand discussion applies, but to boots. Even in the summer (better safe than sorry).
No AE winter line, no offer.

On the first day are we supposed to find the biggest and baddest senior associate and kick their ass? Do prison rules apply?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
