I have an uncle who lives in Delaware. The one especially cool aspect of Delaware is that there is NO sales tax. If you buy a 30k car you basically save 2k. Even on smaller purchases, like suits or computers, etc., over a year you avoid having to pay hundreds (or thousands) of dollars in sales tax. BTW: Generally speaking prices in Del are reasonable.

Desert Fox wrote:What does the rest of the scale look like. I'm assuming a 8th year isn't making 280 100 boneanus.
This is what the old pay scale looked like at MNAT:
1st Year $145,000
2nd Year $152,250
3rd Year $159,900
4th Year $167,900
5th Year $176,300
6th Year $185,100
7th Year $194,300
8th Year $204,100

So if they keep up at 5% a year, the new scale will probably look like this:
1st: $160,000
2nd: $168,000
3rd: $176,400
4th: $185,220
5th: $194,481
6th: $204,205
7th: $214,414
8th: $225,134

Richard Layton has a more compressed scale (granted, this is as of 2007):
1st Year $145,000
2nd Year $150,000
3rd Year $155,000
4th Year $160,000
5th Year $165,000
6th Year $170,000
7th Year $175,000
8th: N/A

I don't work at any of these firms, but I've been told by those who do that bonuses are significantly less than NY bonuses.
RLF's scale for 2015 was exactly the same as MNAT's. Not sure what will happen for 2016.

Holy shit. So, let's interpret what that means for 2016 summer associates... still on the $145k pro-rated pay scale, but if they get an offer it's bumped up to $160k?

MNAT bumped up summer associate pay to 160 rates. Not sure about the others.

Bump. Have any 2016 RLF SAs or entry-level associates heard anything official regarding pay?

I'm a 3L starting at RLF in September. I have heard nothing official. NALP still reflected (as of a few days ago) 145, even though Morris was changed to 160.

I still think it's a safe bet, though. There is no way they could not go up.

The truly neurotic would email the firm directly and ask. How about you take care of that and get back to us?

For anyone who cares, I have it on good authority that all of the Big 4 DE firms have gone to 160k.

You're anon, would you mind sharing what authority that is?

Also not all big 4 firms are paying SAs on a $160k scale.

Check nalp summer comp and do the mAth. It's all there.

I don't think that would necessarily be true/accurate. For example, Potter's website says this year's SAs will get paid on a $145k prorated pay scale; NALP says it will be the $160k prorated amount. NALP is likely just going off of Potter's announcement that incoming first-year associates will get $160k this year, not realizing it's keeping the summer rate at $145k.
