Sweet, sounds like you're killing it! Great job and good luck!Anonymous User wrote:I think this is very region specific, because my target market is far from Virginia and firms probably figure it's cheaper to just have me come in while I'm around, but I have 3 callbacks so far. I only did one reception, but I called alumni pretty much every day, following the networking/hustling guide in the stickied thread here. I actually have my first one tomorrow and I'm a bit freaked since I haven't even had a single screener yet. Did a lot of mock interviewing though.McGruff wrote:Yeah probably on Saturday it'll kick up, I guess I'm just curious if people are doing early CBs and going to receptions and whatnot... So were pre-selects supposed to come out today?
There was this line in an email: "After the supplemental bid deadline, you will not have access until the Interview Acceptance Period opens (July 23)."
But I don't really know what the schedule is.

The handbook says they're released the 25th, with the deadline to accept on the 28th.Anonymous User wrote:So were pre-selects supposed to come out today?

Are you referring to this part: "If you see a comment that you believe is misuse or abuse of the anon feature, please report it using the Report button on the lower-right corner of each post ... Do NOT post in the thread itself about whether or not something violates the anon abuse policy; this is considered thread derailment and may get you banned as well."cornerstone wrote:http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=170603Anonymous User wrote:So were pre-selects supposed to come out today?

Thanks for clarifying - I will try my best to stick to the rules myself as well.swampman wrote:Are you referring to this part: "If you see a comment that you believe is misuse or abuse of the anon feature, please report it using the Report button on the lower-right corner of each post ... To the person reporting all the anon posts - people are allowed to post here anon even if they're just asking questions because otherwise they out themselves as going to UVA, which they may not want to do.

Preselects are up. Anyone from last year know what kinda conversion rate alternates usually have or are there too many variables to say anything concrete?
edit: From reading last year's thread, it seems like a good amount of alternates will turn into interviews.

So, if I'm an alternate for a firm, and I accept 23 pre-selects:
1) there's no way that alternate will become an interview, but
2) the firm won't know that I didn't try to get off the alternate list, and
3) I can special request them and make them a 24th screener,
is all that right?

Special requests depend on grades I believe, and if you have 23 pre selects I'm guessing you won't qualify.Anonymous User wrote:So, if I'm an alternate for a firm, and I accept 23 pre-selects:

Check with CS but I think that is how it goes.
Also PSA: don't freak out if you didn't get pre selected for some of your top choices. First, you know shit all about these firms right now so it's not a big deal. Second, you can still get them through the lottery. I ended up at a firm through the lottery, as do many others.
Good luck.

Thoughts on a new poll for post-preselects?

got a couple surprises out of my pre-selects, then I realized I somehow did not bid on two firms I really wanted, and to which I have some ties through networking that would have helped. is this something special requests can remedy? or am I SOL?

To give people some context on pre-selects, last year I went: 15 pre selects, 11 alternates, 2 lotto picks, and 12 callbacks. Don't freak about about not getting a bunch of pre-selects if you have a good amount of alternates. Target primarily DC last year

Not sure that's super helpful without knowing what your gpa was. Can we get a poll going with a range of preselects/alts offered?

I'm sure this varies significantly, but what is a typical amount of preselects for a person right at the median? I have 15 preselects without alternates right now and I guess I'd like to see how average that is

KDon is a champ. Surprised and incredibly happy with the final results. Based on his email I'm guessing most people are feeling the same

Hi UVA Law students! I'm a 2012 SLS alum and (uva undergrad!) and just want to send a friendly reminder that you can put this info into http://www.biglawrefuge.com. If you haven't heard of it yet, it's a platform for sharing anonymous job statistics with your classmates. Help your fellow classmates out and encourage others to share! You can also add interview with your job applications (like on campus interview, callback, etc), so you can share that information as well.
Good luck everyone on OCI and congrats to those with callbacks/cb dinners.

How about number of interviews now that the lottery has finished? KDon seemed pumped about how everything went so this would be a good way to confirm.Anonymous User wrote:Can we get a poll going with a range of preselects/alts offered?

i know it's early, but from the tidbits i read here or hear in other ways it sounds like the recalibrated class size just might pay the dividends some of us anticipated. here's hoping that's the case for y'all - good luck! don't do stupid shit!
