Re: 3L OCI
Weird question. This is my first time mass mailing. Will firms ding you through snail mail or will they usually email you back to say they aren't interested? I put my school address on resume and cover letter since I'm going back in a couple weeks, so I'm just afraid someone will have sent me a letter, I not get it, and I follow up with the firm while I'm still in town.

Depends on the firm. Some email; some mail. And many won't respond at all.thisismyname wrote:Weird question. This is my first time mass mailing. If you are setting up an interview with a different firm while your SA is still going on what are you telling your current firm? I just took off for a day for something friends / family related so I'm unsure how to approach this. Thanks in advance.

Re: 3L OCI
Hmm I would maybe tell them you're sick and ask them if you could work from home. They'll probably just say don't worry about it, but assuming your cb is half a day, you could prob do the work after. I'd assume they wouldnt give you a huge assignment knowing you're sick, but who knows with big law.

Thanks for the response. Is it also normal to have done litigation over the summer but say that you want to switch over to transactional or does not having done any transactional work before put you behind?

I am going into corporate and did very little corporate work my SA. I think at most firms they won't care and it is a good reason to be applying as a 3LAnonymous User wrote:Thanks for the response. anon above - for lit or corp? regardless, curious if you have an idea what their need for you was (super busy/need more heads, or just have like one associate who dropped)

For corp. They didn't give me any clues about need while i was there but my friend is summering there now and said there is just way too much work and not enough associates.Anonymous User wrote:anon above - for lit or corp? regardless, curious if you have an idea what their need for you was (super busy/need more heads, or just have like one associate who dropped)

Just curious, when was this posted? I'm just trying to gauge if my mass-mail app was too late, seeing that someone got an offer early July.Anonymous User wrote:Davis Polk put up a post on my school's symplicity. looking for BOTH corp and lit associates. let the 3LOLs rejoice.

Re: 3L OCI
my offer may have been unusually early because i had an offer from them as a 2L and because I reached out to them pretty early (mid-June), I wouldn't worry about being too late. But I wasn't hired directly into a corporate group like the Simplicity posting aboveAnonymous User wrote:Just curious, when was this posted? Got CB invite on July 2. Sent them my updated transcript on June 23.Anonymous User wrote:How long did it take you to hear back from DPW for your CB?
ETA: I'm the original anon with the offer, not the anon right above me who re-quoted what i posted. I assumed you meant how long to get my cb after i got in touch with them right?

Because I need someone to kick me down, is anyone else going for Lit and going against the corp advice?
