I was told by an attorney in the office that the last set of interviews took place the week of November 3rd. Since this Friday marks two weeks since the end of that week (no idea which day they finished up interviews the week of 11-3), I have a feeling we won't hear anything until after Thanksgiving, especially considering that one of the interviewers works at a regional office and the panel probably has to coordinate schedules to compare notes and reach a decision.
I see, and thanks for this insight. I thought they said they'd be finishing up interviews sometime in October, so if the last interviews were a couple weeks ago, the delay makes a little more sense.

With 25 candidates (I think that's the number I remember them quoting?) and 2ish weeks since the last set of interviews, I definitely think it'll be after Thanksgiving. Would be nice to know sooner though...

For those that applied to FDIC Honors and got an interview, JLC or 3L?
3L - some WE with banking regulatory agency during law school.

I just thought my interview went OK. With the similarity/overlap of the behavioral questions, I thought that some of my responses were redundant and I ran out of things to say. Oh well, we'll see.

When you say OCC is almost done with hiring, do you mean that it has extended nearly all the offers or that it will be extending offers soon (because the internal evaluation process is nearly done)

Thanks

Word on the street is that references have been called (via a FDIC applicant). Anyone with similar news they're willing to share? Rejection, offer, references called, etc.?

Does anyone know if the OCC has made offers or rejections?

The OCC has completed their hiring (source: another applicant received an email from the OCC).

I heard hiring decisions would be made before Thanksgiving.

Do you happen to know if his/her references were called after Thanksgiving?

Do you know if he received the email recently and whether they had a callback?

Didn't post the first quoted sentence/question above, but I am the poster that shared what I was told about the interviews ending the week of November 3rd (previous page).

Both of my references were called pre-holiday.

Sounds like there's been movement on OCC and possibly FDIC. Anything new to report from FRB / CFPB candidates?

I had a DC interview with CFPB in early November, and haven't heard anything. FWIW, my school career adviser says no one else she's working with - clerks or 3Ls - has heard either!

I just received my CFPB rejection today (in an email that suggests that the CFPB needs to learn to proof-read better). My misguided pursuit of a "public interest" job is coming to an end.
The CFPB Louis Brandeis Honors Attorney Program hiring team wants to thank you for taking the time to apply for our program. This notice is to inform you that we have selected another candidate to advance in the hiring process.

While you were not selected for CFPB’s Honors Attorney Program, the hiring team did not make this decision lightly. This year we have a high-competitive pool of great candidate to select from. You were an impressive candidate for the position and we hope that you apply other entry-level attorney and non-attorney positions posted on our website consumerfinance.gov/jobs/. Please note that we add new positions on a weekly bases.

We wish you the best of luck in your job search and thank you for your continued interest in our agency.
Warm regards,
Melvin & CFPB Honors Attorney Team

I'm really hoping that by not receiving this, there's good news!!

Just out of curiosity, how far along in the process did you both get?

At the risk of some "TLS is the Bible & prestige is everything" believer's head exploding...

Unranked law school, but top 10%, LR, trial advocacy board, student org. leadership. Current JLC.

Congrats to you! That's great!

And like you say, some of the BigFed definitely focus on a holistic approach and fit (rather than stats & prestige). I think 2 of the 4 FDIC HA's from the last 2 years came from New England School of Law and another from University of Baltimore Law. But those people had a demonstrated interest in banking and apparently fit the FDIC's criteria well.

I agree entirely re: BigFed's holistic approach. I do think things would've been different if I wasn't carrying JLC in my stats and/or hadn't submitted a writing sample on an issue the FDIC litigates often. Regardless, grateful to have the offer and look forward to relocating to DC!

Judicial law clerk. I think it probably helped my case -- coming from an unranked school as a 3L likely would've been a little more of a hurdle to overcome.

So, I know this thread has been dead for a little bit, but I know for a fact that another FDIC Honors offer just went out within the past week (it was to a friend of mine). I'm uncertain if s/he will take it because they interviewed before s/he got an offer with their summer firm, but just wanted to see how it'd all play out. Now, after 3 months of radio silence (true to gov't form), and assuming that it was a "no," the Honors offer comes in. I work for the FedGov for a related agency and know people at the FDIC (so I may be biased), but s/he have to decide within the week. S/he is torn, but I recommended maybe polling some folks here on TLS who might have been in a similar situation (and not just my biased view).

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
