Are there still people who have NOT seen their preselects/alternates come up yet? I am refreshing a lot, but nothing is happening...
Didn't get any emails either.

I'm guessing if they all say "Lottery Selection", that's not a good sign right?

The 1 interview that I got from BLG is with a medium sized firm. Technically I can take the midnight megabus and get to Boston in the early morning so I can save on hotels, but it's just a lot of hassle for something with a low likelihood of success.mommalee wrote:I think it also depends on who the 1 is, what you are getting at your school's OCI/EIP, and $$$.shadowofjazz wrote:NY to Boston? I think if a pre-select is declined it becomes a lottery spot.Scratch that, alternates are up and labeled too lmao. I need a coffee.
Labeled how? And also, do we need to confirm scheduled interviews in any way, or just show up?

How do we find out if the alternates actually turn into interviews?shadowofjazz wrote:mommalee wrote:Is this what an alternate is?Anonymous User wrote:Each and every single one of them?Anonymous User wrote:I'm guessing if they all say "Lottery Selection", that's not a good sign right?my OP for the entire thread was in error - there are no alternates. Umm I might eat the cost, because 1 is better than 0, plus you never know how the lottery/you OCI might turn out.isanycbel wrote:The 1 interview that I got from BLG is with a medium sized firm. So if no alternate selection or pre-select, that = the firm passed on us?

No. There is a separate column called "Invitations".moocow54 wrote:Where are you guys seeing where it says alternate/lottery selection/etc? I kept refreshing but nothing happened. What you should do (and what worked for me) is to log out of Symplicity and then log back in and the column should show.

Sorry if I totally missed this...been in class. Can someone tell me what alternate means? Or at least call me a noob and direct me to a part of the thread/BLG website that discusses it? Thank you!

Re: BLG Job Fair (2014)
There isn't really any explanation, I'm guessing some people have more than 10 preselects and have to decline some. Some people will also likely withdraw. I have a few alternates so I'm hoping some convert.pompoms wrote:Sorry if I totally missed this...been in class. Can someone tell me what alternate means? My estimate is that each firm is interviewing somewhere between 20 and 25 students per room (3 interviews per hour x 8ish hours minus 2-3 interviews for lunch)(if there's a second room - double that). Who knows how many alternates there are and if they're ranked.
If only there was some way to summon an all-knowing 3L who knows from last year how alternates work...
[Edit]The column that said alternates/preselect/lottery selection has disappeared. Guess it wasn't supposed to show.

If you read through my post before yours, you would have seen they re-hid it after a few hours. I'm guessing it was put up by mistake. Your interviews are in the scheduled interviews tab; we aren't supposed to know our alternate status I guess.Anonymous User wrote:I can access, but there is no extra column called invitation.shadowofjazz wrote:Can't access? Thanks for your response. I read through the thread, somebody said that they received emails before the result released. I did not receive any email. So probably I did not get any.shadowofjazz wrote:If you read through my post before yours, you would have seen they re-hid it after a few hours. I'm guessing it was put up by mistake. Anyway, one tie with Boston at all.

It seems there is some sort of alternate mechanism working in the background. I have one more interview today than I did yesterday. I'm guessing alternates might be processed as people withdraw/decline interviews through Friday, so maybe keep an eye on your schedules?

Yeah I went from 7 interviews to 10 so keep an eye out guys! I was sent a new batch of emails too but that may have been a glitch.
