You all should quit EIW and go PI.

Weil was pretty popular this year...
I'm surprised. Didn't they just do a massive layoff a year ago in one of their offices (for BK i think)?

Friendly reminder to update your resumes by today!

And also a PSA for all you wonderful, generous people sitting with a solid GPA: can you consider dropping some of your non-Vault T-20/30 interviews so you can focus on those interviews and the rest of us with not so excellent grades can have your extra interviews you won't need? Of course, you're entitled to all of your interviews if you want them.

Got King Spalding at 14, Schulte at 19. Missed Dechert at 22.

Most disappointing/surprising miss was Linklaters at 5.
People lost Linklaters at 1 so don't feel too bad. Dechert must have been a a conflict because I got it at 25.
I somehow only have 4 interviews scheduled for Dechert's date the 15th, so I'm surprised there was a scheduling conflict. Guess it is what it is. Hoping to pick a couple interviews up through the waitlist or open sign-up.

3L here. Be careful about this. Let them get a safe # of callbacks before you ask them to cancel screeners. Plenty of people with good grades struggle bc of interviewing.

Missed Linklaters at 5, Weil at 8, Mofo NYC at 10. Most surprising miss to me was Cleary Gottlieb at 28, I thought that since they had a lot of slots and were selective it was a safe bid.

I have a v10 offer in hand however so I plan on dropping many of my interviews.

Are waitlist interviews redistributed on a rolling basis or do all the open slots get re-run under bidding after Aug 1? No movement so far, but hopefully it picks up as 1L SA's get offers.

Mass mailing is starting to pay off.

19 mailings (15 to one non-NY market, 4 to another). 2 Interviews and 1 rejection. How is everyone else faring?
7/28 update: 2 rejections, both from the market I only sent a few to, apparently my ties aren't very strong. haha.

Lol if you have to ask then you probably don't have it. I'm top 25%-ish and when they told me the range I couldn't believe it. Out of respect for OCS I won't post specific numbers, but you can ask and they'll give it to you.

I'll just say that you need to be well within the top 10% to even be the lowest GPA they accepted last year.

Found a solid number of typos on resume and updated and uploaded today.

Chances firms look at resume this early before EIW?

Basically non-existent. I'd be shocked if the interviewing attorneys took a look before the night or two before (if not day of). I interviewed at a v20 this summer for callbacks and two of the interviewers didn't see the resume at all until I walked in and handed it to them.

Bump

For open sign-up, are we to assume that the number of slots listed next to "estimated 2L slots" is the number that currently isn't filled - the amount that will be available for open sign up if they don't get snagged during the wait list additions?

Can someone explain what's going on CSM? On the OCI page, it says at the top that we're in the middle of a bidding round (Aug. 4-6), and it appears we have the option to change some of our bids. Thanks.

I have no idea what's going on, but I think it's the transfer bidding period right now. Not sure why we can change our bids or if the system would even take those changes into account.

I had called OCS, they said not to change it around and it didn't matter.

Could only pick up 1 interview during open signup because I'm time-conflicted out of everything else. I wish we could drop interviews to add others. I was too scared to drop any during the actual drop period because I didn't know if my preferred choices would be available. Forcing you to drop and add at different times when you don't know what time slots are available beforehand seems like a dumb way to do things, especially since transfers are still allowed to add/drop right now.

same here. there's a Shearman slot that was open during my interview with a firm I have no business interviewing with.

Overall, went OK - I got one of my top 5 initial bids off the waitlist, plus another three. Damn Symplicity kept crashing so everything was gone by the time I got it working right.

I had that problem. I got a lot of my non-NY bids that I would happily have dropped for spots at Latham and other NYC firms. 28 interviews total, so I'm not entirely unhappy.

Does anybody understand how the morning sign-ups and hospitality suites work? It seems like most firms are pretty full already. Are there going to be more spots in the morning? Are you dropping by the hospitality suite hoping they'll create a spot for you? Thanks!

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
