Wear a suit with a blue shirt. That way if nobody else is you can take it and the tie off and bam, you look business causal.

I was the only SA not wearing a suit day 1 of my SA.

But I was the only associate wearing one day 1 of my jerb.

I think it really varies by firm. I know some people who start Monday but end around mid-July. What are you doing until that point?

Going to the gym and drinking. They pretty much cancel each other out at this point but I don't have much else to do. What about you? And others with later start dates?

June 2nd for me as well. Doing Biz casual. When I asked about a suit, they said if i felt so inclined I could wear a suit but suggested against it. So I'll defer to their suggestions.

Start next Monday! Formal place, though, so suits every day.

I'm bringing mine to anything that I'm expected to come from home. I don't get to see her enough already.

If we head in right from the office, than anything that sounds cool and doesn't require the firm to pay more money. I'd rather be the weird guy at work who always has the wife around then the lonely guy at home who doesn't.

I wouldn't do it for the first week social gatherings stuff (I'll be leaving mine at home for at least the first week unless explicitly told to bring him). I think for me it'll also depend on whether the other summers have S.O.s to bring to the events - I'm in a small, small class, and I think it would be awkward to be the only person bringing a +1 to the summer events. If, like, half of my tiny class brings S.O.s, though, it won't be as weird. Probably matters less if you have a big summer class though.

I would say yes. If you are unsure, you can ask recruiting. They will generally be happy to answer questions like this and will help you avoid awkward situations. You definitely don't to be the only person with a S.O. at an event, especially if it means the firm is paying extra for the additional person.

If you get a guest at an event they will explicitly say so. Do not bring an SO to an event unless you're told you can invite them.
