Just responding to the weirdness of bringing up "perky cute receptionists" in this thread. I don't think looks are part of the qualifications for receptionists any more than they are for lawyers, just figured it was worth focusing on the legal stuff, since most people here are lawyers/trying to get legal jobs/hiring lawyers etc.Hipster but Athletic wrote:You've been saying it in a weird tone. And I skimmed nony's last post --missed her final disclaimer, focusing on the breaking the law shit. My point is that yall need to chill. The weirdest part was nony playing "i'm talking about lawyers not receptionists"

Depending on which state you're in, I'd say it may not be a bad offer. I'd take 90k in good weather over 120k/145k in bad any day.

OP
Totally agree, especially if you can work in your home state… one that is void of blizzards and snow blowers.
As far as the photo fiasco, I agree that a firm shouldn’t ask for a photo (yes, unfortunately it could be construed as discrimination). Since OCI is face to face and largely grade driven, being camera-friendly is not likely a game changer.

Is this the first time a firm came to TLS to ask for advice on hiring? Do we need a forum for law firms?

Re: OCI Recruitment Ques.
Not really. I’ve seen firm recruiters asking and taking questions. As I recall they represent large law firms that travel to various OCI schools. As far as firms in general, given the work load, making time for tls would be very sporadic unless they have someone from HR with time to kill.

Re: OCI Recruitment Ques.
What questions are you asking your screener(s)? Are you considering anything that could potentially backfire? If your grades are excellent do you have a way to slide it in (if it’s not brought up)? Likewise how do you address median or lessor grades….deal with it head on or hope the screener doesn’t notice? What else...?
