DOL is making calls for first-round interviews.
Anyone know how long that process will last?
I'm also curious how a phone interview works; do they call you to set up a later time to call you again for the interview?

That's what they did last year.

I know that the DOL Honors program is super competitive. Does anyone know how many people they generally interview? I understand that they only do one round of interviews, so I'm guessing the number is a bit higher than other agencies. Also, any one know how their interviews are generally structured (ie, substantive questions, etc.)-- I'm sure this depends on the interviewer, but any tips would be appreciated.

Last year there were 15 pairs of interviewers doing phone interviews, though I don't know how many candidates each set of interviewers actually interviewed. They also did OCI interviews at about 30 schools (though some people reported that there was no pre-screening for the OCI interviews).

Did you have a call-back with them?
Had an OCI interview with them.

How competitive would you guys say the DHS honors program is? Is it easier for someone who did a summer internship with them?

I interned there and got an interview for DHS Honors. From what I've gathered, they seem to be more loyal to past interns than other agencies I've interned at (at least enough to get an initial interview), but are still extremely competitive. I was told when I interned there that I should definitely not count on employment. If that is where you want to work, it definitely can't hurt to summer there.

For those that heard from HUD, do you mind saying whether it was a regional office or HQ?

It wasn't Georgia either, at least not for me. For what it's worth, I am fairly certain some folks (at my school) have received rejections via snail mail so if you haven't heard anything, my guess would be that there's hope.

I did.
When did you interview? Did you have a ton of relevant experience or are your numbers killer?

I interviewed this week. I did a few L&E-related internships and was top 5% at a T30 school.

Received a call from HUD-Regional to setup an interview for next week. It's my understanding that the regional office that is closest to the applicant conducts the interview. This includes placements with HQ.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
