Thumbs up to that! Seems like navigating is what we’ve been doing since day 1. LSAT, what school, the grades, then will I get a good SA and now we’re standing on the “will I be offered” trapdoor. As rosy as things seem, some of the earlier no-offer SA stories are unnerving. I would love to hear what someone did to immediately and successfully bounce back from a no-offer. Was it luck, a great plan B, or what?
I can't think of anyone who immediately bounced back from getting a no-offer( or from getting lathamed or stealthed either.). The Dewey SAs found other jobs remarkably quickly but that was because firms wanted to help them out. Theoretically I suppose it is possible if you have tremendous contacts and networks, but even then it could take a while before you get an answer.
The problem is that there aren't job openings to " immediately and successfully" jump into. Biglaw firms aren't going to hire until they know what their class will look like. Government isn't a backup anymore where you can just get a job. Clerkships take a while to land. Smaller firms only hire if they need someone.
This is one reason why this thread matters. The difficulty of finding another job requires a strong support network. If it was simple to " bounce back " there wouldn't be so much emotional and psychological stress.

I second what NY State said
I knew a couple out of the maybe 10-odd people I know who got jobs in early fall. One got a state clerkship in a state which hires early. The other just lucked out and got a firm job.
A dude I know used the network he had built up since 1L year to land him a firm job in like mid November. From that point on I saw a slow trickle of people getting jobs w no correlation to their credentials (grades, school, etc.) or frankly, the effort they put into the job search either. Do keep in mind that some are still looking. I think that's part of why it's so stressful too. 3L job search has no process or season, and you can have nothin on your plate for months until you get that random interview that lands you the job.

As an SA and someone who just read through the distressing experiences of others it is painfully obvious that a no-offer creates grueling challenges. I will take it at face value that the majority do not achieve an immediate solution. However, my question was aimed at those who managed to land quickly on their feet — how did they do it? I have to believe they exist (and are willing to share their experience).

I do not think there is a simple answer to that. Most importantly luck, and to a much, much, much, much lesser extent being a "go-getter" played a major role in it. There is no formula, you do this, then that, and the jerb lands at your feet.

You read through this whole thread and this struck you as an appropriate question to ask?

Last year a cohort’s best friend was no-offered. Next report I got was that my cohort’s friend landed something and all was good. Honestly, I really wasn’t paying much attention to it. Point being, while a no-offer is a hassle it is not devastating, is how I took it.
This obviously runs counter to the opinions/experiences from the handful of people who posted onto this topic. So for the moment I will go with the flow and believe everyone here is right until someone steps in and says “not so fast.”
I have to admit that the two people not offered at my firm last year ended up with the state, which $ wise was likely a setback.

Of course it doesn't seem devastating when it's a "friend of a friend"

I could only admire someone with the fortitude to regard a no-offer as "a hassle." I doubt I would do so well.
Anyway, support and good vibes to all in that awful position, and best hopes that things will work out.

Are all no-offers equal? If you’re from HYS or one of the elite schools does a no-offer carry the same stigma? Maybe I missed it but I don’t believe any of the no-offer victims were from a T6ish school? Perhaps IRL it probably doesn’t matter, although it seems like it would.

Explain what you are trying to say
You think at HYS there would be less stigma? Or more?
Edit: if you want to talk about whether HYSCCN will save you from getting no offered, make a thread about it. This isn't it.

You haven't read the thread. This thread is to help people who have been no offered not to make you feel better that your degree might save you. Start another thread.
Wait til you get a no offer and then post. This shouldn't be hard to grasp.
Fwiw: no offer isn't a " stigma" it means your unemployed and have to find another job. The path to that other job is murky and your school may or may not help.
Maybe this thread needs a warning like the vale thread- no advice for people who haven't been no offered and no posts other than advice and support for those no offered. No offered people need a place to vent. They aren't your cautionary tales at this late date in your career.
I feel I have decent advice to share and unlimited moral support to offer people, but I don't want to deal with the hypothetical imaginary no- offers in this thread. I don't think anyone else does either.
Start your own thread about your neurotic fears; come back here if they are realized.

To my knowledge no SA has been “offered or not-offered” in nearly a year. I doubt if this thread is supposed to be about those who were no-offered over a year ago…. I believe those in that situation hang out in the Tears of whatever topic (please feel free to visit them). So unless this is your attempt to highjack this thread and turn it into Tears Part II, let’s discuss SAs, Offers, No-Offers….as it pertains to what is happening (or about to happen) in
2013.

OP here
It's about people who got no offered (some of whom have not found jobs) and for support for the people who may have already been no offered (it's near the end of some SA programs).
The Vale is a different thread you illiterate fuck
Ludovico Technique wrote:e: also the Vale is distinct from this thread. There are people in the Vale that didn't get no offered. And there are people that got no offered that have left the Vale. This is a thread for support and a guide for how to cope.

The thread is supposed to be for people who get no offered in the next couple weeks. A safe place for them to commiserate and for people who have gone through it before to help them out.
It's not for aspie cocksuckers to ask questions to make themselves feel better about whether they'll get offers.

Just start another thread with your questions. This shouldn't be hard to understand.
Start another thread if you have issues other than actually being no offered or supporting people who were no offered. People start new threads all the time, it's nbd.
Edit: never mind, I'll start one for you. Here you go:
