I have not heard from any resume collects. But my grades are probably average to below average and I only applied to very competitive firms (because of special circumstances).

Does anyone know which of the big4 has the most tax consulting work, as opposed to just compliance.

Depends on the group. M&A has almost none (at least at PwC and EY). International has minimal, except KPMG partner said they spend 25% of time doing compliance. I've heard others say that's not true though.

Also curious. Is it hard to transfer between groups? Also how are exit opps different for the JDs versus the CPAs at big4...?

Not too hard to switch. Usually have to stick around in your first group until promoted to senior (1-3 years) and then there can be more flexibility. As for exit opps, definitely different opportunities. If you're a JD/LLM, likely doing more consulting than compliance. Doors open for other big 4, in-house, or law firm (rarer, but not impossible).

thanks for the reply--any idea if there is stigma to being a "tax senior" or "tax manager" in house if I wanted to go back to a law firm or as tax counsel somewhere after a few years?

Working in big 4 is not "in house," you are servicing outside clients. In terms of law firms, there is generally more of a stigma the longer you stay. Having said that, however, I've seen 4-5th year seniors/managers move to large law firms. As for other employers (i.e., non-law firm), there are other exit opportunities and the experience at the big 4 is seen as a positive.

Interviewed for both transactional and controversy at ML. Rejection didn't specify which one just that they didn't like me lol.
