Anyone else feel like hiring this year is slightly down from last year? Seems like most firms are planning to hold steady or reduce their summer programs.

Re: OCI - Duke Class 2014 - here we go
Looking at the NALP directory for expected class size, it seems that, for NYC at least, hiring is remaining pretty steady (definitely no noticeable increase but also no noticeable decrease either).

V10 expected hiring (just NYC office):
Wachtell: +6
Cravath: +37
Skadden: +29
SullCrom: -26 (firmwide)
DPW: +30
Weil: +26
Simpson: +6
Clearly: +23
Kirkland: +17
Latham: -21
So, V10 actually looks pretty solid.

Nah, I mean hiring for next summer. The NALP numbers reflect hiring for the summer program that just concluded. Of course, my data comes mostly from Midwestern firms, so things might look different for NYC.

No; you are correct. It says "began work in" above the year. I was assuming that it was a prediction for this upcoming OCI because, clearly, there is no need for estimates for this past summer's hiring because those numbers are already concrete.
It should be interesting.

The NYC firms that I have spoken to at least expect to hire the same about of SA as last year. Many expect to return to their "normal" levels of years past.

v10 hiring partner I spoke to said they overhired last summer and will hire less this summer.

Weird thing is the firm's expected hiring size shows a + in the data posted above, but that firm's NYC hiring partner said they are hiring less. I guess one isn't accurate.WannabeBlueDevil wrote:/\ bummer.

Re-read the two posts below the projections I posted. Those were predictions were actually for this past OCI hiring.

Does anyone know where the "Hospitality Suite Announcement" is on Symplicity? A few of the posting on the home page of symplicity have referenced it but I can't seem to find it.

Re: OCI - Duke Class 2014 - here we go
At last year's OCI, there was a big list on a board at the front of the hotel. It had all the firms for the day and what rooms they were in. There was a list of which firms had suites in the same room too.WearyCartographer wrote:Does anyone know where the "Hospitality Suite Announcement" is on Symplicity? Good luck to everyone! Ended up with 22 total interviews (20 in NYC from the two segments).

Re: OCI - Duke Class 2014 - here we go
Has anyone tried/had any success dropping interviews after the last day to drop, this year or in the past? There are a few that I'd like to drop, and I'm sure there are people who'd like to take them. Unfortunately the rules don't seem too conducive to this. Thoughts?

Anyone else hear back from any of the resume collect firms? I got a few surprising email dings already, which makes me worry that there's some mistake in my resume/writing sample I failed to catch...

Haven't heard anything from resume collect firms yet, though I applied almost exclusively to Chicago.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
