I used to work for Quinn and my wife now works for Kirkland. Culture-wise they’re both very ambitious. However, Quinn has the downside of being cheap and Kirkland at least isn’t stingy. Quinn offers little to no litigation support or resources, which means lots of personal leg work and investments. Don’t bother billing the firm for overtime meals. Don’t expect the phone calls to stop over the weekends, holidays or even while you’re in the hospital. Need to serve a last minute motion? You’ll be doing that yourself (don’t forget proof of service). If your laptop breaks, you’re buying yourself a new one. If you’re thinking of expensing something, good luck with that. These might not seem like big things now, but having to do this every day for years will get to you eventually.
