Re: DOJ Honors
Before I lose my mind, could someone please let us know which components are calling references, or at least whether EOIR has called references?
Has anyone been referred to components and not had their references contacted? Also, is anyone still at 'application received'?

Re: DOJ Honors
From the DOJ Community board on Avue, posted today:
I anticipate making online status changes for the Honors Program interview selects starting tomorrow. This may take until Thursday to complete. Once the online status changes are complete, I'll start sending out notification email messages. These are sent in batches based on the selecting component (e.g., all the Civil Division interview selects are notified at the same time; all the Criminal Division interview selects are notified at the same time, etc.). That should be completed by late Thursday. We then wait a while (up to 3 weeks) before we notify candidates of non-selection to allow the components to review their interview pools and make additional selections, if needed. As for the SLIP, components are finalizing their selections this week. We hope to start making online status changes by next week and issuing notification messages by October 4th. If you are selected for an HP interview, your online status will change to "selected for interview." If you are selected for further consideration for the SLIP, I think the online status changes to r "selected for consideration for employment."

Re: DOJ Honors
Yes, status changes happen usually a day before the emails. Thus, it'd be helpful if individuals posted status changes/emails as long with their components when they get info.Anonymous User wrote:From the DOJ Community board on Avue, posted today:

EOIR, still at "Application Received by DOJ." I hope this doesn't mean what I think it means.

Re: DOJ Honors
Also at "Application Received" for EOIR.
This summer I spoke to an OARM rep and she told me that OARM receives the applications and make sure they are "eligible," i.e. are in good standing, graduating this year, etc. and then refers to components. So it seems like everyone would be referred to components if their application is facially ok.
But then again we are probably just screwed! Oh to be an unemployed 3L looking for public sector jobs...

Re: DOJ Honors
Application received + no email that you were ineligible = Referred to components
From the DOJ Community Board:
"When your online status reads "Application Received" or words to that effect, then it has been referred to the components you designated unless we sent you notice that you were deemed ineligible. Hope this helps. "

Re: DOJ Honors
I realize that they said this on the avue board but I don't buy it. Why would so many people's status change to "referred to components" if it was an unnecessary step?

Re: DOJ Honors
I agree. Some of my friends applied to the same components that I did and their status has been changed to "referred to components" and mine still says "received."

I've been checking all day and still nothing. I'm at "referred to components." I think the tactic of not checking is wise.

I remember last year my status just dissapeared all together. That was fun.
