Saw three or four. Snagged Cleary.
When? I was on at noon and didn't see anything new. I guess they just come and go at random?

same, was on all day

I think it depends on your schedule as well. If the interview conflicts, it might not show up.

Did you sign up for anything yesterday? I'm still getting the "You have signed up for 1 interview(s) this week" message for the days I snagged interviews for yesterday. Annoying.

Na, yesterday during the initial rush I was able to click on available firms only to be told on the second screen that I had the conflict. Guess you just need to be on at the right moment, which is a tad annoying.

Seriously, y'all, don't underestimate how awesome it can be to be at large law firms in small cities. I am working at a firm in Upstate New York this summer (granted, I am from Upstate and didn't attend AJF because I knew I wanted to be here), and my firm seems to be more relaxed/friendly/unstressful than I had imagined a law firm could be. Small cities with high qualities of life and low costs of living are freaking awesome (not to mention the low leverage - at my firm they expect everyone will become a partner eventually).
People aren't taking out six figures in loans for the dream of working in Rochester under 2 feet of snow 8 months of the year.

I'm sure everyone got the email Suzanne sent, but I'll repost it, just in case:
Dear Students,

Two announcements about open slots:

1. If the system doesn't seem to be permitting you to select today's round of open slots, try logging out of Symplicity and then logging back in. You should now be able to view remaining open slots. If you do not see any for a given day, then there are no open slots that fit your schedule.

2. Very few open slots remain at this point and yet we understand that students feel pressured to check the system constantly. For this reason, we are going to shut down the open slot system at NOON TOMORROW. It will remain off through the weekend and we will give you at least 24 hours' notice before reopening it (thus, the earliest it will reopen is Tuesday). We hope this removes one source of stress for now and allows you to focus on firm research and interview preparation instead.

Best,
Suzanne

Once again the administration is concerned with our mental health. Nice.

If they were, they wouldn't have implemented a system that forces you to reload a page every 2 minutes in the first place.

they're so concerned with our health that they're not going to let people sign up for open slots at all?
OPEN SLOTS WILL REMAIN CLOSED
Open slots will remain closed at this time. We do not anticipate reopening the system before the AJF, but will give you sufficient notice if this changes.

I don't understand how this makes ANY sense at all. If they would just let up know that the system would be open from about 12-1 every day then people could go insane over lunch and not after that. Seems incredibly counterintuitive to take away our chances at more interviews.

I get it. My guess is there aren't any more interviews to be had. They're not letting people cancel the AJF unless they actually receive and accept and offer somewhere else. And I'm pretty sure everyone transferring out has given the school the heads up already. When I was looking on Friday the ONLY open slot left for the entirety of the AJF was for Kirkland and Ellis in San Francisco. It makes no sense for us to be freaking out refreshing the page every ten seconds if there just aren't going to be open slots.

Good luck to everybody doing the job fair! Sign up for every open interview slot you can, do a little research on the firms, after the first night think about your answers to the common questions, try to think how your answers came off and tweak as you go. At least for me, the answers you give can mean alot. I will say I did get a great (non-upstate) market-paying job out of the actual on-campus job fair. But AJF is the main event. I am glad to see my anon friend is having a good summer!

If anyone else is interested, there's a Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto (ska music) concert on the night of the 10th, at the Best Buy Theater three blocks down from the Doubletree. Tickets are something like $30.
