Re: DHS
Mid-March? So...don't tell me that it basically comes down to DHS or nothing...I assume for those outside of DC they'd have to fly in/make travel arrangements...so this could take a while...

Re: DHS
I'm super anxious now. Anyone heard anything?
And throwing this question out there: what is everyone else doing...applying to other jobs and waiting to see if this pans out...? But what if an offer is made? Would it be smarter to take it, or to contact DHS about it?

Re: DHS
I'm a bit anxious, but the evidence from this thread and the DHS Honors thread suggests that they haven't contacted anyone yet. So it's more of an inconvenience than anything else.
I'm continuing to apply to other jobs, but I'd definitely take DHS over pretty much any of my other options (save, MAYBE, a paid position with the Manhattan DA). This could be just blind optimism, but I'd be surprised if we didn't hear something this week or the next. The major problem would be interviewing during finals and then not getting the position. Ugh.
While I don't see the harm in contacting DHS if you get another offer, I doubt it would do much good because they had so many applicants for so few positions, and they have a very deep class to look at.
Anyone know how much DHS OGC is involved in the TSA screening controversy? That'd be awesome to work on if it's still up in the air over the summer.

Still nothing on this front. I was hoping to hear something by now. Anyone have any updates?

Re: DHS
I hate these situations. I want to contact them to check in and reaffirm interest, but I've already contacted them before (~3 weeks ago, I think) and I don't want to be pushy or disrespectful.

Re: DHS
Would it be helpful if we all go talk to our respective career offices and then report back? Some of them seem to have the low-down. I didn't contact anybody at DHS because, frankly, I don't think they'd remember us since so many of us interviewed...and over the phone, nonetheless...

I called one of the persons who interviewed me. Talking to CSO sounds like a good idea actually.Anonymous User wrote:Who did you call?Anonymous User wrote:I hate these situations. Mine's got nothing. What did your interviewer say when you called? Just to wait?

Not going to lie, I still check my e-mail and this board way too much to be considered healthy... Come on DHS!

Re: DHS
This was a while back; she said at the time that they'd probably know second-round candidates within a couple weeks. But that was almost a month ago. If the expected business of DHS generally extends into the OGC, I doubt we'll hear anything before January.Anonymous User wrote:Mine's got nothing. What did your interviewer say when you called? Re: DHS
Hate to burst people's bubble, but read the latest post on the DHS Honors thread. Apparently they have already selected people for in-person interviews and would be making offers soon. So....I have no idea if we're on the same timeline or not.

Ugh, I saw that. I hope we're not on the same schedule as they are, but I guess we'll see.

Good (or bad, however you want to see it) news. Just heard that we're not on the same timeline. We're still being considered.

JFC, I do appreciate that. Thanks for the update. Did you hear any more specifically about what our timeline is?

Re: DHS
well...supposedly it's after the new year...but I'm not really sure what to believe now. I would deffo suggest calling your interviewer. Since the Honors program has already concluded, I guess now they can focus on us? I just don't knowhow many of us interviewed, what they are looking for, etc. I'm kinda strapped with deciding what to do for the summer since DHS is my first choice.Anonymous User wrote:JFC, I do appreciate that. Has anyone heard anything on if they sent offers or if there was even a second round of interviews? My last communication was in late November....
