A few asked for some additional information via email (writing samples, transcripts, etc. that they did not request during the OCI bidding process) but nothing since then.
Some firms told me that I shouldn't expect to hear back from them until the end of September. I suppose we're backups.

I think the part about us hearing later because we're backups is, sadly, often TCR. Although the Sacramento firms tend to be pretty down to hire Davis students as a first choice, all of the SF/LA/OC/SD options seem to be waiting to see how the offers they made to Berkeley/Stanford/UCLA students pan out before they get around to us. At least that could explain why people with good (let's say top-third) grades from both schools are still waiting.

Rent/watch the 1996 documentary "True Lies." Take notes.

Orrick offer out at H.
Lots of people in the CB stage and post CB wait.
Very few people getting offers from what I've heard. Pretty much a bloodbath.
Seems like if you had less than 10 interviews, you were unlikely to get a CB, much less an offer.
Obviously, these are generalizations, but pretty accurate based on the people I know.

(D)
I wouldn't say it's been a bloodbath at all. I know people getting biglaw callbacks as low as top third. However I also know of a couple people who are top-10% and getting screwed, so I think that we can't over-stress the importance of interview skills.

Snail mail? When did you interview with them? You know anyone who's gotten CBs/their grades?
I'm at Davis and just interviewed with them last week/would really like to get a job there...

it was at Hastings a few weeks ago
dinged by snail mail today. I don't know anyone with any CBs period at Hastings. I am top 25%, secondary journal. I thought it was one of my best interview performances.

Hastings:
Ding at Downey Brand today. Top 25%, no journal. The only people I know with callbacks at Hastings are the highly-ranked IP kids.

Hastings seems to have been f-ing brutal this year. Here at Davis, I have 4 callbacks (but no offers... yet *fingers crossed*) and am top third-ish, no journals, not IP. It seems like everyone I know who is top-30% has had at least one CB so far.

I think Downey is big on ties to Sac and will hire lower class ranked people who grew up in the 916. At least that's the word on the street. Unless you're from the area, I wouldn't take that ding personally.

They probably saw the dearth of Hastings applicants for their firm and decided that they weren't getting to look at the "cream of the crop". Hastings students' insistence on S.F. jobs is working to our detriment.
and yes, a bloodbath

I called them up a couple of weeks ago. No one answered. I left a message. No one contacted me afterwards.
