OCI Post-Mortem
3.387 @ MVP
Had Callbacks at the Following Firms (Vault Ranges):
(1) V5 (it wasn't Skadden)
(1) V10
(2) V30
(2) V40
(2) V60
(2) Non-Vault
All NYC.
Got an offer from two of the V30s; still waiting on the V10 (as it's tied for my top choice).
I'm not a URM, not on a journal, went straight in from a top UG. I guess I'm just a good interviewer?
Anyways, I'm pretty much done, and it feels great. Good luck to everyone else!

Congrats. I'm not trying to take away anything from your accomplishments, but are you attractive by any chance? And a female? I have better stats than this and completely struck out (and all interviewers that got back told me said my interview skills were good).edcrane wrote:You've done well for yourself. Re: OCI callbacks thread
Thanks everyone.
I'm a dude.
I'm not sure whether I'm attractive, mostly because I'm unsure whether I can honestly answer that question. I will say I'm not ugly, though.
I'll post a more detailed list of the firms that called me back when I accept my offer. I also plan to post my bid list, so people can strategize accordingly. My general strategy was to put my target firms that I really wanted to work at toward the top, safety firms in the middle, and reach firms at the bottom. In the end, I got all my target firms (except Weil), all my safety firms, and one reach firm. I was genuinely pleased with how the lottery turned out.

Yeah, this is pretty incredible if true. Anecdotally, it does seem like NYC has been quite a bit easier than other markets ITE.Anonymous User wrote:Congrats. Just heard from Milbank yesterday. Apparently they just started their first round callback announcements.
9 days? 10 days? I don't remember exactly what day I interviewed, but something like that.[/quote]
S&S was quick. 3 days

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Got the death knoll today.
17 resumes to OCI firms/agencies
10 screening interviews
1 call back
All rejections.
I know DC is a tough market, but god, you just can't help feeling worthless at the end of it all. I'm going to spend the rest of today being depressed and then start figuring out what else to do about summer employment tomorrow.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
I think I'm done with my OCI stuff now so I'll post non-anon...
Penn
Top 20-30%
Secondary Journal
RA for 1L summer
Pretty good interviewer but not so great at lunch (My opinion, not something I've heard from interviewers lol)
30+ total screening interviews
7 callbacks (DC/LA/NYC)
Have been on 4 of them so far.
Offer from top choice (V10) today.
Going to research some details but will likely accept the offer by Monday unless something crazy turns up.
Good luck to everyone still waiting. I know it sucks. I won't even say "It'll all be ok" because I hated when people said that to me. Just keep up the waiting game.

T2
Top 5%, Law Review
21 OCI interviews (still waiting to hear from 5 of them re: callbacks)
7 callbacks:
1 NYC lower V-100
2 Philly lower V-100
4 non-Vault firms
I've completed five of the seven callbacks. No answers from any of them yet.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Final Results:
T25
top 33%, LR
15 screening interviews
2 Callbacks (1 Chicago 1 NY - V50-70)
1 offer from my hands-down favorite out of the two (and haven't heard a peep from the other for 4 weeks so assuming it's a no)
Accepted today.
Still kind of in shock because I was prepared for the worst - beyond happy this is over.
Good luck to everybody. Hopefully this gives people hope that you don't have to be top 10% at a T14 to come out of this OCI bloodbath with a job!

9 callbacks (withdrew 2 before cb)
3 dings
4 offers (withdrew 2 already)
Now comes the really hard part, making a decision.

I'm in the same boat. If you're looking at West Coast markets, maybe we can figure out a way to discuss anonymously or something. Don't know where you stand w/ your offers, but I really like several of my offers - all w/ some pros/cons. Do you have a clear favorite for yours and how long are you sitting on them while you decide?Anonymous User wrote:9 callbacks (withdrew 2 before cb)

Re: OCI callbacks thread
CCN transfer
35 screenings
Many many direct applications and other means
18 call backs
Went on 14 call backs
5 offers
Not a good cb-->offer ratio, but I feel very fortunate and I think more people need to do work outside of OCI.

Of the two I'm considering, one is in LA. I'd like to discuss it because I haven't found that much info about it. Got a throwaway email?Anonymous User wrote:I'm in the same boat. I did like 30+ Screening interviews but only got 3, I cannot tell if it is my personality or that my grades (i was a transfer too) were simply not competitive in this economy.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Ended up with 4 callbacks, got rejections from the first 3 and, thank the Lord, an offer at the last (which happened to be my first choice). Got the call yesterday.T-30
Middle of class (.008 below median)
Strong interviewer
6 or 7 interviews scheduled (most [4-5] in secondary markets)
had 4 interviews so far
3 callbacks
I feel very fortunate.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
OCI post-mortem:
CCN, transfer from T50, was in the top 5 people at my original school.
Secondary journal at new school
Non-URM
20 screening interviews, ~100 mailed resumes
2 callbacks via OCI: 1 V30; 1 "Best of Rest"
Nothing from any of the mailers
1 offer @ V30 firm after a really, really heart-wrenching stint on the wait list. Ironically, there is only 1 firm I might have taken over this firm, even if every single firm I interviewed with gave me an offer. It would have been a really tough decision, but I think I would have gone with this firm.
If I was a religious man, I'd say that I consider myself blessed. I'm not, so I'll just say that I consider myself incredibly lucky, to a degree that I can't even put in to words. 1 of the callback partners was an alum from my original school, and I'm absolutely convinced that I wouldn't have gotten the gig if not for that partner.
An old friend of mine from my high school also is a fashion designer/tailor in the area, and I'm almost positive I wouldn't have gotten the gig without her fashion advice/tailoring skills. Suffice it to say, if she ever needs any lawyering done (that I'm qualified to do,) she's getting it for free.
