How good/bad are they? Are you super busy?
If I had great grades I'd send them to everyone ASAP. Otherwise, I'd consider how likely they are to make a difference and how busy I am doing other things and prioritize accordingly. But I would err on the side of being optimistic, because it really can't hurt (except the time you spend doing it).

Having accepted a 1L SA w/a given firm, do I have to email the other firms that have been totally silent throughout the application process? I of course contacted those firms I had callbacks with/pending decisions from but just wondering if I also have to contact everyone else.

Can we get a poll so we have some idea what percentage have something lined up already? Something like:
Accepted firm offer.
Accepted clerkship.
Accepted gov. offer.
Accepted PI offer.
Sitting on firm offer(s).
Sitting on gov. offer(s).
Sitting on PI offer(s).
No offers yet.
And let people choose multiple responses.

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2018
Dropping in for the first time with a few questions (I've read most the guides, too).
-Surprised with a litigation boutique SA interview offer (only 10-14 interviews were offered at my school), but I'm a white male whose grades were good but not great so I shouldn't get my hopes up right? Plus, I know some others who got offered interviews and they're comparable to me but also URM.
-Additionally, is it fine to work for a DA's office in the county I want to end up in even if I don't want to do criminal work long term (especially not prosecution side)? I'd be doing it mostly because it sounds more interesting than public policy stuff and I'd be in my hometown for the summer. Honestly, I'm sure I could spin it into something positive during OCI. It's legal experience after all.

Nope; I think it was their only 'non-diverse' SA position open.Anonymous User wrote:Diversity SA?Anonymous User wrote:Having accepted a 1L SA w/a given firm, do I have to email the other firms that have been totally silent throughout the application process? School/grade range, firm market (NYC/DC or secondary)? Assuming this is a market paying SA. Ties? Trying to read tea leaves here. Could you share the timeline if possible? I received an offer allowing 10 days to accept. I would like to take at least a few days, maybe the full 10, before I accept. Should I say anything in the interim to let them know I am considering it or just wait until I have made a decision?

Assuming email, just respond with a thanks and letting them know you're considering it and will get back to them within the appropriate time. No need to specify exactly how long you will take. Seems like unnecessary pressure, for lack of a better description.Anonymous User wrote:I received an offer allowing 10 days to accept. Any news? I interviewed with SDNY a few weeks ago, told me I'd hear by the end of the month. Still nothing.Anonymous User wrote:I interviewed with the USAO Criminal Division for SDNY and EDNY but haven't heard back yet. Will they tell you if you get dinged? Nothing yet. Sent a polite request for an update recently. Waiting to hear back.
I'm kind of assuming that maybe we're alternates and they're waiting to hear back from their first round of offerees before they either offer or ding us.

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2018
Hey, sure, no problem. CCN, I think right at median (but I never had to provide grades), secondary market paying at/slightly above market for that secondary market. Very strong ties. I applied Dec 1, had an 'informational' interview/chat with a partner in person at the office in mid/late Dec, then phone interview early Jan, then offer about a week later.PeanutsNJam wrote:School/grade range, firm market (NYC/DC or secondary)? I had 2 other firm interviews/callbacks as well and they followed the same timeline --- except would've been longer on the offer (or lack thereof) because I withdrew prior to hearing either way.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
