I can confirm that summers haven't gotten offer letters yet but that's all I can confirm.

In case anybody legitimately didn't know what I meant, PW last year never sent an official offer letter to incoming summers, offering them a spot in the SA program.

All this does is confirm that Paul Weiss is really going to take everyone to 190K
We already have confirmation that other firms are going to 180K and Paul Weiss already committed to shattering. That's confirmed. So yeah duh of course nothing is going to be in writing yet until the rest of the market commits to the new standard of 180K and Paul Weiss can shatter everything with 190K.

I think the main point to be gleaned from this thread is you can't stop a moving train no matter how hard you try. That's confirmed.

Actually, I don't think the train needs to be moving. The normal rules of physics do not apply in this thread, my friend. Even if the train is stationary, it still cannot be stopped.BigZuck wrote:Rpumpkin SHATTERING the 11th grade vocab game ITTrpupkin wrote:Tight syllogism. Where is it confirmed other firms are going to 180k? We heard talk of offer letters but I didn't see names of firms, photos of offer letters—really, anything. Not trying to start a fight, just asking for sources in this 30 page hot mess.

Re: NY to 190k??(possibly led by Paul Weiss)
while "everywhere else to 180k" is a 100% factual reality at this point, no one is allowed to post specific details until after the official results are released following the annual First Year Salary Summit, traditionally held in late November, in which key partners from every firm in the land (of NYC) gather to discuss how best to welcome the incoming class. PW plays by its own rules so they may shatter expectations at literally any timelawschool90 wrote:BigZuck wrote:All this does is confirm that Paul Weiss is really going to take everyone to 190K

.... as my father used to say, what you post on an online forum about the contents of an offer letter is a blood oath.

STB's offer letter said that compensation was yet to be determined for 2016 SAs.

The STB gestapo probably doesn't want news of their compensaTTTion leaking out.

Can't blame the guy. If news of STB's below-market compensation gets out, it will trigger a chain of events that will result in the firm being out of the V20 by the time the anon starts as a first-year in the fall of 2017.Byakuya769 wrote:Hahahah... That edit, tho.

God, I love this thread.
Except that NYC to $190k makes my federal salary look even punier. But I can live with that.

A rising tide lifts all boats. Do you think President Trump will permit Paul Weiss to steal away all the best legal talent? It's going to be an all-out big law versus big fed salary war, and there will be only one winner: our nation's lawyers.A. Nony Mouse wrote:God, I love this thread.
