Are you guys sending thank-yous after callbacks? Someone at the callback panel said they should just be sent to the interviewers you had the best experience with. However, this sounds like it would offend anyone who didn't receive a thank-you.

20 CBs so far but turning down OMM, Sidley, DPW, STB, Boies, Gibson, Weil, Covington (NY), Ropes, Cravath. Good luck to people still waiting on those firms. Decided to only take CBs from DC firms (already have an offer from an NYC firm, but hoping for a DC offer).
For the curious, no LR (didn't end up finishing on time for complicated reasons) and high Stone (one half grade away from Kent)

So about 2 pages back, there was a lil bit about how this forum is not for bragging. You could claim that you weren't, but someone not interested in showing off would have said:

"Turning down NY callbacks. Good luck to people still waiting on those firms. Decided to only take CBs from DC firms (and 3 NYC safeties)."

Because we're anonymously sharing information and some of us find that to be extremely helpful? Nobody is making you read this - why begrudge others who find it useful the opportunity to take advantage of this forum?

Because we're anonymously sharing information and some of us find that to be extremely helpful? Nobody is making you read this - why begrudge others who find it useful the opportunity to take advantage of this forum?

who is going to find it helpful that someone on law review has a shit ton of callbacks? and yes people should take advantage of the forum but the forum isn't meant for people to compete over how many callbacks they can get.

This forum is meant for information sharing. That's all. Attacking people who do so just because it makes you feel bad that they did better is small-minded and counterproductive. Why ruin it for everyone else who actually wants to know what's going on? Would you rather people walked around JG bragging about how well they did? If not, please stop whining.

I actually found it interesting to know how others are doing, and it's much better manners to do so on here anonymously than to ask people in person. I didn't get nearly 17 callbacks but I'd rather know how I'm doing than not. If you think it's too competitive to simply take an objective interest in how your performance is, you probably shouldn't be in law school in the first place and it's honestly not surprising that you're not drowning in callbacks. How is getting mad when someone does better than you going to help you or anyone else? At least if I know I'm not on the very top, I'm aware I have room to improve and even more motivated to do so - far better than being in denial and pretending mediocrity makes me a superstar. If knowing you're not the best undermines your confidence that much, you should know that about yourself and stop coming here if you can't deal with it.

I dunno (I'm not any of the posters above). I think the LR/Kent&HighStone crowd probably doesn't need to crow on here as much some of its members are, because those two factors alone are really enough to ensure that you get a ton of CBs--and thus bragging about it doesn't really seem likely to lead to information that isn't already obvious to everyone (except neurotic gunners who are obsessed with 'beating' everyone else at law school).

That said, I think that there is some valuable information to be had here--not so much for rising 2Ls now as much as for future students. If you're on LR and a high Stone (or even just a high stone), that means you're probably golden, and you don't have to go crazy worrying about it. Just look at all the posters magnanimously sharing their results.

Similarly, I know people who have 15ish CBs who weren't stone OR on LR, and I think that that's largely thanks to really good work experience and interviewing experience (with a lot of screeners thrown in). So, to future generations of law students, the lesson here is to try to take a couple of years off if you have an awesome job lined up--one in a relevant area (banking, consulting, PE, etc.) that gives you client contact (and means that you can be trusted not to screw anything up royally). That'll go a long way towards getting an offer.

This is probably the most truthful comment posted on this site. I too can't stand the constant shouting down of people who happen to win the law school game by those who didn't do as well.

The reason this site allows anonymous posting is so we can get the info that we would not be able to get outside the web. Info on how well some people are doing and how bad others are doing is also informative for future students who might be lurking this site trying to get an idea about what awaits them next year at OCI.
