Ropes had two town halls - one for associates worthy of a pay increase and another for the rest. Sorry you had to learn this way.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:38 amBy who? I'm at Ropes and they just finished the town hall meeting without mentioning it at all

Kind of amusing that she referred to it as the Davis Polk scalepeperharow wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:47 amBy Julie. It was literally the first thing they brought up at the meeting. Re: NY to 200k?!
It looks like some firms aren’t mentioning class of 2021 in their raise announcements - ATL is specifying in the tracker which firms matched the class of 2021 202.5k vs 2020 205k. Does this mean summers and class of 2021 are still starting at 190k at these firms?

Re: NY to 200k?!
Does this mean the class of 2021 at Skadden will not get the bump to DPW Scale?! Coz I had better reach out to the partner at Davis Polk that offered to bring me on if it doesn’t work out with Skadden!

How do firms true you up for salary raises that happen in July?

Do you mean catching up based on the 6mo you worked under the previous scale? I haven't heard of any firms giving you back-pay to make the raise effective for the full year, but others should correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: NY to 200k?!
To my knowledge, no firms have indicated that they are doing that this year. During the 2018 salary increase, Simpson matched AND added 'special bonuses' that effectively trued up salary for juniors and trued up + fat extra bonus for seniorscornerstone wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 12:30 pmDo you mean catching up based on the 6mo you worked under the previous scale? This isn't happening anywhere in the industry as far as I can tell.bigboybob wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 12:38 pmCorrect, I was referring to back-paycornerstone wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 12:30 pmDo you mean catching up based on the 6mo you worked under the previous scale? Cravath's partnership meets on Mondays, right? Does anyone know what day STB's partners typically meet?

Re: NY to 200k?!
Just for the sake of discussion, what do you all think would happen if someone put out a fake raise memo that actually tricked other firms into matching? I know this would probably never work, I'm just curious.
Do you think they'd go back on the raise? Or do you think they'd just stick with it because of the bad optics of undoing a raise you already admitted you were willing to give?

This is the kind of big brain discussion we need. Someone send a fake memo to nonequitypartnerExpOriental wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 2:04 pmJust for the sake of discussion, what do you all think would happen if someone put out a fake raise memo that actually tricked other firms into matching?
