Fuck up story: Was at a cb. Researched all my interviewers. Started talking to this interviewer about her background and asked a question about her work. She was like, "No, I actually do..." and I was like, well, that's weird. Then I was talking about "Maria," the previous interviewer, to try and make a point about something or other. Turns out, I was wrong about her background because the previous interviewer was not Maria, I was talking to Maria! damn it. Definitely my fault, but to be fair, my interviewer lineup was switched at the last minute so my brain must have just gotten confused.

Yep, and working out some of these kinks now is probably the best thing about doing 1L interviews.Anonymous User wrote:Fuck up story: Was at a cb. Researched all my interviewers. Like you, I was all about researching interviewers for my first several cb's, but I ultimately found it to be a time-suck that often led to mixed up details rather than revelatory discussion. Half the time your schedule changes drastically anyway—I had callbacks that involved none of the attorneys I was originally slated to meet. By the time you hit OCI and you're doing a dozen interviews in a day it all becomes a meaningless blur anyway.

I've only gotten one ding from a PI org that didn't come through our school's PI Fair on symplicity; it took 'm about six weeks to say "no thanks. "DCfilterDC wrote:What is the general turn around for hearing back for interview from PI summer gigs? I know it varies wildly, so I guess I'm more asking how many days/weeks out do you just assume you're not hearing back in most cases (I'm sure there's exceptions).

Hey! Do you guys know what the big differences are between USAO EDNY and SDNY? Particularly in their criminal divisions? I've gotten offers at both, and am having trouble deciding. I know that EDNY allows interns to speak in court (has anyone here done this?), but SDNY seems a little more competitive, which makes me think the work might be more substantive? I looked through the boards, but couldn't find much.
Also is there a difference between the types of cases they do? (the websites seem to indicate the same general themes, but idk if this is true in practice).

I'm approximately top 1/3 at CCN and wondering if not hearing about an interview yet means that I'm dinged.

I interviewed with the USAO Criminal Division for SDNY and EDNY but haven't heard back yet. Will they tell you if you get dinged? Seems weird some people already have offers and I haven't heard back either way.

How badly do you have to strike out at callbacks to indicate shitty interviewing? What's the callback/offer ratio of the poor, average, and good interviewer?
Also, the general rule is no thank you emails. What if at the end of the interview, they hand you their card and say something like "please email me with any questions you may have"?

Can't really answer the first question, especially when discussing 1L SA hiring. I know people who had quite a few 1L interviews, totally struck out (sometimes didn't even get callbacks) and ended up at firms like Cravath, Sull Crom, etc. their 2L summer. Don't worry about it, just keep improving your interview skillzAnonymous User wrote:How badly do you have to strike out at callbacks to indicate shitty interviewing? I've heard that it's not typical for firms, but I'm not sure about non-firm positions.dabigchina wrote:Is this true?
