I've been waiting to hear from them. Any dings gone out yet? I'm guessing I'm on some kind of wait list.

I'm the anon who declined

I was under the impression they would only take 1 or 2 summers and I don't think they called back a ton of people, so they were probably very conservative with extending offers and rejecting people after callbacks.

I liked them a lot, seems like a great group of people in that office and I think it's a really good firm. I declined as soon as I knew I would take something else, sincerely hope that helps someone else out in this thread.

I remember my CB at MWE last year. It's a good firm, but the Houston office felt like just a quiet satellite for them. The people were friendly if a bit bland. Keep in mind that their SA program requires a full summer commitment (or at least that's how it was last year), so you'd probably forfeit a chance to split.

I'm one of the curious posters above. I've heard the same, which is what worries me.

In my instance, the other firm (in another market) has staunchly refused a second-half split, despite my best efforts. I have no choice but to hope that V&E will, because I feel like I can't make a fully informed and confident decision on where I truly want to go until I've done a little work at both. As for offering something incredible? Nope. I bring nothing special to the firm, just good grades/credentials at a T14, no business nor connections nor anything like that.
Please report back on your negotiations if you attempt to work out a second-half split. I was planning on accepting V&E anyway, but this could be a gamechanger for me since I also have a firm in another market that insists on spending the first 6-8 weeks there.
I've heard of people w/ offers at BB/V&E, including 1L SAs who haven't been able to do 2nd half even though they asked.

I guess this probably isn't very helpful since you're litigation, but I interviewed for corporate and got an offer. Turnaround was about a week.

OP here. Awesome, thank you. Not the best news, but the two turning down offers is a silver lining. In the off-chance you know, when were the offers sent out?

Received the offer September 2nd. Denied Monday. Next offer went out Tuesday (9/15). Best of luck! They are an excellent firm.

Still considering. Offer was pretty recent. I really liked the people though, and I like that it's lockstep NY.

In case someone hasn't seen this, I wanted to post this link to my thread. I would really appreciate any thoughts on BB v. V&E and AK v. BG for someone not set on litigation/corporate. Thank you!

Offers at Latham, K&E, JD, V&E, BB. Waiting on Akin, Sidley, STB, and NRF. All Houston. Want corporate for sure, but unsure of choice between energy transactions, projects, capital markets, and M&A.

I've really been impressed with the amount of support and contact I've had with JD, and I think I like the people there the best. I feel like I'm buying into the one firm worldwide kool aid and loved the offices/partners who interviewed me. But I also know I need to distinguish recruiting from firm strength, and chambers makes it look like LW, V&E, and BB are the top corporate players. Maybe K&E will be there too on the PE side.

Other than the people, I have no idea how to distinguish these firms. Am I over-thinking things by being so torn about JD? How do these firms stack up against one another?

About a week. Probs a ding since it looks like others have gotten offers in that time.

I'm on the lit side but just accepted JD. I liked the boutique feel of the firm while still having JD's global reach (granted, it seems like they want to expand the office like crazy here in the next few years). On the more subjective side, I liked the laid-back feel of the firm; pretty much everyone was wearing jeans and they were all super friendly. Seemed like everyone legitimately enjoyed working there. At the end of the day it came down to a gut decision for me and I went with the place where I liked the people best.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
