All I need to know. NYC to 190k confirmed.Anonymous User wrote:My friend is an 8th year at S&C and he said he's seen a lot of hush-hush compensation committee meetings, and a lot of the partners seem more pissed than usual.
Another friend is a 4th year at CSM and overheard a partner on the phone saying something like "I can't afford another BMW, you little asshole, we have to increase--" (at that point the partner slammed his office door.)
Pretty sure it's happening.

I heard a rumor—I can't remember where—that Ropes has been extremely busy at a time when corporate work has slowed down at a lot of its peer firms. In other words, Ropes is DOMINATING right now. In fact, I suggest that we cease all mention of Ropes in this thread. We want to focus on market-leading firms that set trends, not uber-elite firms (like Ropes and Gray) that are in a class by themselves.Anonymous User wrote:One of my friends is actually factoring all the Ropes rumors into his decision. It's ridiculous, if they were really going to raise comp, wouldn't they just offer a one-time spring bonus or maybe an adjustment to the bonus scale? Do any Ropes people have the inside scoop?

Why would this happen in January? Wouldn't firms want to do this during recruiting since the whole reason firms would raise salaries would be to get better talent.smaug wrote:obviously this wouldn't happen until January.

2014 gets it. EVERYONE ELSE GET ON 2014'S LEVEL, PLEASE.2014 wrote:No one leaves firms in the fall when you have to be employed come bonus time. just for clarity... smaug is referring to the fact that the last 2 salary increases were announced in January.smaug wrote:LEARN SOME HISTORY, CHUMP.Chrstgtr wrote:Why would this happen in January? Besides if it moves, everyone moves. This is about ATTRITION not ~recruiting~. Thus, it'll get announced as people move class years, not when 1Ls are choosing summer jobs or stub years start work.
