Paul Weiss NY email ding. K&E/LR/2y WE.

Interviewer seemed to decide I wasn't going to get the CB within five seconds of me walking in the room. Anyone else had this happen? I'm pretty sure it isn't grades or handshake... if it's something fixable, I'd love to know.

Are you doing fine with CBs else wise? You're going to miss some firms. It's the name of the game.

At another CCN, received CB's and offers throughout the V10 & from several more selective firms than PW but they email dinged me post-screener as well, and I too felt DOA. There's definitely a je ne sais quoi with them but this is also a random process

Yea I'm doing fine elsewhere. It just didn't feel very good to walk in and feel decided against from the get-go. If it was something silly like having languages in my interests section (cf. that silly thread) or not saying some particular formality, stuff that I could fix easily, I wanted to know as most of my top firms are still coming up later this week. I know no one is going to get every CB (well, maybe some people are) but I still don't want to torpedo an option for a dumb, easily correctable mistake.

Yeah it just happens sometimes, unfortunately callbacks are not always as merit based as you might want. They might have mentally given all their cbs before you walked in the door, maybe their blackberry went off with a fire drill as you walked in the door, maybe they really needed coffee, maybe they wanted a different diversity demographic for some portion of their CBs than you were, maybe they were yield protecting, etc. Most of the time it is your fault but if you are doing well elsewhere in this case it probably wasn't.

Fortunately across 20+ interviews you will be the beneficiary of this randomness in several cases. Unfortunately you can't predict when this will be which is why it's absolutely crucial to not get mentally invested in a firm till an offer or at least a CB is in hand. I learned this the hard way last year haha

Any news on Fried Frank? They seem uncharacteristically slow for a NYC firm.
