Had a similar experience - got a call from a firm I'd interviewed at telling me that they were still in the process of making decisions. Ended up with an offer. Can't think of any reason they would spend the time to check in by email if they had already sent a ding.
Yep-- looks like a good sign. Same thing happened with me. The partner made it very clear that the hiring committee would meet soon and get back to me promptly. Got an offer the next day.

Same thing happened with me. This means they don't want to lose you. You will be getting an offer, in all likelihood.

Since you guys are anonymous - can you name the firm you're receiving these pre-offer phone calls and emails from? Is it Stroock?

When was your cb?

Mid last week.... I'm pretty sure it was due to the hypo interview bit. Everything else went well.

They probably just have a very quick turnaround this time of the year. Maybe they have a higher yield than they expected, and the room for more summer associates is extremely limited. I wouldn't take it personally.

I felt like one of the interviews didn't go well, but the other 3 were great. O well, just waiting to hear from two more cbs. hope I don't strike out.

I'm at a T6 and heard they were unusually selective this year at the screener stage. Probably scrambling now to fill their expected summer class size.

Paul, Weiss NYC offer today. Did the CB late last week, so surprised to hear so quickly.

Likely declining, though. Didn't much like the vibe I got, and have some other places I like more.
