It isn't abnormal. The recruiter could be busy trying to schedule a lot of 1Ls, or be traveling to various schools and helping with interviews, or it could be any number of things. Don't stress out, but get it scheduled sooner rather than later (and try not to bombard the recruiter with emails, not that you already have, but it's a good rule of thumb).

My 2 CBs were scheduled like (call/email was early december):Anonymous User wrote:Anyone? Bumping this in case it got buried, unless the answer is "it depends." So much radio silence since the callback invite.Anonymous User wrote:Is it normal to take a while to get a callback scheduled? Recruiter: "Does Jan 7th work for you? morning or afternoon?
Me: Morning works
Recruiter: Great see you then.
I then received an email 2 or 3 days before (Jan 4th) with the actual time and stuff. As someone said before, we (1L SAs) are pretty low on the importance totem poles.

If you already have an offer from a firm you're excited about, should you still go on with interviews you have already scheduled with other firms? The upside I can see is networking for OCI/future job prospects but the downside is more interviews & basically wasting people's time.

I submitted my resume to a posting on Symplicity. Hope that helps! Sorry, I'm not sure what resume collection/direct app means exactly.

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2018
It depends—on the firm, on the time of year, on the recruiter, on lots of things probably. Some firms at OCI will give you the callback invite the same day as your screener, then schedule it then and there. Others will offer the callback then take a couple weeks to lock it down. Once it's in your hands you want to schedule it for the first available date; other than that, don't stress about it cuz it's out of your hands.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone? I searched and couldnt find anything on this subject. For a callback, do you get the opportunity to hang your jacket before you meet any lawyers? Like at reception? My only jacket is a heavy parka.

I'm sure they'll find a spot for it if you ask, but none of my interviews had spots readily available. Many firms have you park in the garage attached to their office, so I just left my heavy coat in the car.Anonymous User wrote:I searched and couldnt find anything on this subject. Resume collection I think? I just dropped it in Symplicity.
You totally outed yourself as an NYU student though, next time I'd just be upfront and say N

What is the general turn around for hearing back for interview from PI summer gigs? I know it varies wildly, so I guess I'm more asking how many days/weeks out do you just assume you're not hearing back in most cases (I'm sure there's exceptions).

None were federal or even state government type things though, I would hope they are better about dropping the d bomb

Random question, how many of you digitized your signature and embedded it in your cover letter? I did at the advice of an upperclassman and I'm curious how common that is.

Too late to send out 1L SA apps? Snagged a 4.0 fall semester. Not diverse.

I did this. It's pretty common in industry, presumably carries over into law.Anonymous User wrote:Random question, how many of you digitized your signature and embedded it in your cover letter? I did at the advice of an upperclassman and I'm curious how common that is.

Does timing really matter for when I submit an application for an SA? Should I really hold off sending it Friday afternoon until Monday morning? I would expect that apps are reviewed in the order submitted, but curious if there was a consensus.

Re: 1L Summer Job Search C/O 2018
In my (limited) experience, I doubt it matters. I sent mine out over the weekend and heard back from some on the same day. Most responded throughout the next week and some are still trickling in two weeks later. No correlation between speed of reply and where I've landed interviews.Anonymous User wrote:Does timing really matter for when I submit an application for an SA?
