Chill out, maybe the person also got the same court and wants to chat.
I get that, but people shouldn't feel pressured to provide more info than they're comfortable with.

Then they don't have to respond, and it won't be the end of the world! 8)

I learned that my 1st preference and 3rd preference are filled. My worry is that my 2nd preference will be filled by the time they get to my file. I am very worried about the location stuff.

Do you think if we get an offer for a city we don't want to go (even though it's ranked low on our list) that we can ask them to reconsider? I did not put that I'm willing to go anywhere.
I'm pretty sure the offer you get is the offer you get, but I'm sure you can ask whether there are any other options. I just think that answer is likely to be no.

If you don't mind, can you say what cities are filled/how you know--also anxiously awaiting an offer and hoping my top choices aren't filled!!

Does anyone know how many open spots NYC has this year? I think Deanna mentioned a website that lists current openings, but I can't seem to find it.

Never mind, I was thinking of this website: http://www.justice.gov/legal-careers/ho ... nents#eoir

If anyone has a more specific breakdown for OCIJ, please share! :)

First time poster - internship with the Immigration Court, 2 semesters interning for DHS ICE doing immigration work, top quarter of class at T100 school, undergraduate honors thesis was on immigration, took the immigration courses in law school, SLIP finalist last year. Interviewed during the first week, was made a finalist in the last batch, don't know when my references were contacted, but I know their responses were due 11/30, ranked a lot of courts, but did not put that I was willing to go anywhere. Still haven't heard anything.

Here are some thoughts - (1) they are hiring a lot of people and that takes time; (2) the approval and matching process is cumbersome; (3) we have been told that it is a rolling process; (4) the best piece of advice I think I have seen on this message board (or it could have been last year's) was that there is no rhyme or reason to how DOJ does the hiring/contacting/matching process; and (5) those doing the matching, contacting, etc. have other jobs to do, and hiring us may not be the most pressing issue they are dealing with at the moment.

That being said, I am still checking my phone every time it buzzes with some hope that it is a Virginia number calling. Best of luck to all!

There are about 20 clerks there and a lot of judges, so I think they may have a good amount. What did you rank NYC as?
1st. I'm sure it's a popular choice with tons of finalists who want it, so I'm wondering if all 1st round offers for that court have gone out...

I don't think all first round offers are out yet, so I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.

PA as is York? Philly wasn't hiring.

A friend received an offer from Detroit. She didn't list it as one of her top choices, but she did select she would go anywhere and is from Michigan.
