Should you email the recruiting contact on nalp for the office you want? I figure since it's two days out they might respond in time.
That seems incredibly awkward? You should probably get over yourself and just do it. The only time it's inappropriate is before right before someone has a screener. Before interviews start or during a break is totally fine.
Anon from above. Yeah it does seem incredibly awkward, and it is incredibly awkward (witnessed firsthand). Trying to catch someone as they're running to the bathroom? Definitely clears the awkward bar as far as I'm concerned. Wasn't worried about doing it, just wondered if there was a smoother way to do it.

If you or whoever hounded someone on their way to the bathroom would have used common sense and waited until they came back there wouldn't have been any awkwardness. If the cost of knocking on a door and asking someone about their schedule isn't worth the benefit of an extra screener interview then don't do it. But that's an absurdly low cost for something that matters as much as OCI.

And lol at holding out that example as the way things typically happen.

Everybody play nice. If you're looking for a non-awkward time to drop off a resume, get to Booth early and catch them after they sign in but before the first interviews.

I don't think it needs to be changed. I turned in my entire appellate brief for a screener last week, with no formatting changes except for writing my name instead of exam number, and received a CB.

Make it under 10 pages, double spaced. Do not have a ToC or ToA. Have a cover sheet that gives a brief description of the assignment. Make sure it is perfect.

If you get an offer but want to sit on it while looking elsewhere, what is the proper way to tell the firm that?

I don't think any firm expects you to commit now, when OCI isn't even over. Can't you just thank them and say you're very excited to receive the offer and leave the rest unsaid? They aren't going to be hounding you for an answer. In my experience, even as the deadline to respond drew close (and it's still many weeks away), no firm sent me "just following up" queries.

some firms may hound you for an answer, e.g. Gibson, but you just have to be respectful and explain that you're very appreciative and excited but you are still interviewing and waiting to hear back from places ect.

Sidley Chicago did CBs for all interviewers, I believe.

Kirkland Chicago had a lone CB, but all others are waiting.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

So what's the deal with radio silence from New York firms? I've heard of a lot of rejection emails, but haven't gotten anything. Should I just assume the rejection is coming via snail mail?
