It seems like calls are coming at the end of the business day, did anyone have a different experience?

That's awesome, congrats again!
I wonder if they called references for any alternates? Maybe I'm just getting impatient but I'm starting to wonder if I'm an alternate.

I wouldn't necessarily come to that conclusion. They don't make offers until your file's complete, and that means contacting and getting responses from everyone you listed as a reference, for one (I learned that the hard way). If someone's out of the office or on vacation, that'll slow it down.Anonymous User wrote:That's awesome, congrats again!

No, you will get an offer if your references are contacted. Mine haven't been contacted at all, so I am an alternate.Anonymous User wrote:That's awesome, congrats again!

Any finalists for ATR(DC) heard anything since Deana's last update?

Thank you both for your responses! I hope I get an offer and my file is complete soon. I heard from 2 of my 3 references that they were contacted. I think I will email my third reference to see if he completed a reference request.
I'm sorry to hear your references weren't contacted yet. I hope you'll get an offer if someone declines!

I was under the impression based on last year's post that even if your references are checked it does not guarantee an offer. Can someone verify this?

For those of you who have received offers, do you get a phone call from HQ or from the court you are selected for?

Re: DOJ Honors Program 2014-15
Question: So at the end of November, I was notified that I was a SLIP finalist for the Civil OIL District Ct office. I know this is an HP page, but does anyone generally know how long it takes to find out whether you get an offer or not? Also, does anyone have a general idea of how many people they designate a finalist in proportion to how many offers they final give?
Thanks
Thanks

I was a SLIP last summer for OCIJ. The problem with comparing last year, however, is the shutdown. Everything was messed up.Anonymous User wrote:Question: So at the end of November, I was notified that I was a SLIP finalist for the Civil OIL District Ct office. Last year I was notified I was selected for further review on 11/4, and I was offered the position around 12/30. No clue about the finalist/offer ratio, we don't even know that for HP. The best guess we have is that there are 3 interviewees for every spot for HP.

How many people are eligible for Honors, have passed the bar and are simultaneously available to start something in January of 2015? I imagine it's not as competitive as it otherwise would be.

Yeah, that's my problem with this. I meet all the other criteria (and am an alternate for another position), but I am in a clerkship that doesn't end until next August. Otherwise, I would have my application in for this already.Anonymous User wrote:How many people are eligible for Honors, have passed the bar and are simultaneously available to start something in January of 2015? Do you have any tips on what to do? They haven't contacted me at all by email to set up a phone interview or anything like that, so I'm assuming they do the hiring entirely on the application and the packet of information I sent to them when I was selected for further consideration at the beginning of November.Anonymous User wrote:I was a SLIP last summer for OCIJ. You'll hear when you hear. Try to forget about it until then. Congratulate yourself if they contact your references.

Did anyone have a situation where one of your references switched jobs, and therefore, the phone number you put on your application would now be incorrect? Not sure if that's a situation that warrants contacting Deanna, or if that's something they would be able to figure out after attempting to call the reference.

Did you put a correct (personal) email address? One of my references lives/works outside of the US, and they contacted her by email. I would guess if they failed by phone they would email.Anonymous User wrote:Did anyone have a situation where one of your references switched jobs, and therefore, the phone number you put on your application would now be incorrect? You can call DOJ to update a phone number. I did that for one of my references.Anonymous User wrote:Did anyone have a situation where one of your references switched jobs, and therefore, the phone number you put on your application would now be incorrect? I can confirm per a current JLC that reference checks do not necessarily indicate an imminent offer. OCIJ contacted the JLC's references in late November and JLC did not receive an offer until early January.Anonymous User wrote:I was under the impression based on last year's post that even if your references are checked it does not guarantee an offer.
