Who here has an "Interests" section on their resume? I'm getting very conflicting advice re: this from Career Services, profs, etc.

Every interview ive been on, this has come one and even dings saying they dont hire 1Ls, have mentioned something that they have in common.

One interview, literally, just talked about the job for 5 mins, they didn't ask about my background at all, just about my interests. Be interesting to see what happens with this

Every interview I've had the interests section has prompted the most conversation and has enabled me to establish a personal connection with associates and partners alike. It's definitely been more helpful than pretty much anything else on my resume.

Any one heard back from DLA piper Bay Area office after CB?

How long ago was your CB? I've been waiting four weeks. CB was at the Palo Alto office.

My CB just happened this past week and I know they are still interviewing people next week. Can you tell if one has a good chance from how the partner interact with you or it doesn't even matter if they like you or not?

I've had absolutely no luck with firms, only had one interview invite out of 35 (all sent early January). Targeting NY market, top 15% at CCN. I'm wondering if others have had similar difficulty obtaining interviews.

Top 10% at lower T14. Mass mailed pretty much every major market in December/January and only got 1 interview.

Not sure if you guys are URMs or women, but it appears to get interviews in NY you need to be at YSH or have prior strong connections...doesn't matter if you're top 10% at CCN or below

I'm at HYS, did management consulting at a top firm in NYC. And I'm from the East Coast. I got zero interview. (I did not have grades when I applied.)

My interaction with the partner was very positive so I felt pretty optimistic when I left. But here I am...waiting at week four. I think it matters whether they like you or not but I just got an offer from a firm after an interview that ended early and the partner showed no interest. So I wouldn't lose heart if you met with a partner who wasn't gushing.

Do any of the people who interviewed/are interviewing with DLA SV have EE/CS backgrounds?

Unfortunately, so many of my "hobbies" and "interests" have been sacrificed at the altar of CSWS.

At BC, a bunch of 1Ls every year do the Boston Lawyers Group Diversity Clerkship Program, where they work at a corporate placement (i.e. State Street Bank) for 5 weeks a gov placement (i.e. Middlesex DA) for 5 weeks...not sure if the deadline has passed, tho.

Yeah, I would like to think that they won't send out offers or rejections until they're done interviewing. I was told that they plan on hiring only four 1Ls so wouldn't make sense to have the hiring committee meet multiple times?
