I would think people would be openly high fiving each other ITT

Is it because it's only 170K or because that anon coward was pulling a weak troll job or what's the deal?

Cravath will match, according to an associate at the offer dinner last week. A friend says the same for Davis Polk.

That's my interpretation.
Sorry, I meant incoming first years. The people that just started.
Makes sense. It was always going to take a salary war to get to 190. Paul Weiss with the first volley. Predictions for firm 2?
Firm 2 will be Desmarais maintaining their $20k spread above market (PW 170+20). BOOM, there you have it: NY to 190k confirmed.

Serious Q: I know Brewer is above market, but do they pay market bonuses? I know associates have an "opportunity" for a bonus.

I thought it was strange that the top students at my school didn't pursue Brewer at OCI. I know they have an awful reputation but I figured more people would jump at $185k.

As this guy didn't type "Paul, Weiss" he's clearly not an employee and is just some dude trying to rain on our 170 parade.

If NY pushes the first salary, how likely and soon is it other the rest of the firms will follow? Anyone heard how it played out in 07?

There's a table somewhere, either made by AmLaw or NALP, showing first year compensation by market and year and including 2007 and on. It kind of speaks to this question, but I can't find it and am too lazy to keep looking.

Sounds like Paul Weiss is rumbling about financial success during CBs, if you're still looking for proof for some stupid reason then I think this pretty much confirms NYC to AT LEAST 170K.
