I plan on being totally honest about this if asked, because I am aware (it says in the application materials) that the DA can waive the residency requirement at her discretion.
Now, is it a bad move on my part to go forward with this interview? Is it unethical? I dont think so, but I dont want to be in a situation at the first interview where I say that I hope the DA can waive residency if I'm lucky enough to get the job and the person freaks out or gets mad or whatever these interviewers do. Thanks guys.
You're fine. One of my best friends from law school was hired in Nassau and she lives in Westchester/Manhattan. My office's application said I need to live in the same county, but we were told at our administrative orientation that you can live anywhere in NY.
ETA: Unless you get a total nutjob of an interviewer, they shouldn't care. I'd throw it in at the end, after you've hopefully wow'd them. They'll ask you if you have any questions, etc., you can just ask how strict that residency requirement is enforced.

Your resume probably has your current address in Manhattan, right? They're at the very least aware of it already, but yeah, I agree with asking about it at the end when they ask you if you have any questions.

How far along in the process are you? I was contacted about my third round interview a week or so after my second round. I had my third round interview several days ago and have not heard anything back. Did anyone else have an interview with the Bronx DA and receive an offer or decline more than 48 hours after the interview?

I did. I interviewed on a Friday, got a call back with an offer the following Thursday, and declined after receiving an offer elsewhere the week after that.

I interviewed a little over a week ago for the third round and am waiting to hear back.

Scheduled my 3rd round interview with DANY a few days ago. Aside from the usual (hypos, resume), are there any addition things I should be ready for that wasn't already covered in the 2nd round like current issues in criminal law, etc?
Thanks!

I know Manhattan is good about responding to applicants who have job offers from other places. My question is, does that, practically speaking, apply only to applicants that have already gone through at least three rounds with Manhattan? I did my 2nd round a few weeks ago and got a 3rd round invite. Yesterday, I got a job offer with another public sector organization, but the deadline to accept this job comes before my 3rd round interview with Manhattan.
Should I ask if it's possible to expedite my 3rd round interview with Manhattan + do it on the phone before I have to make my decision regarding the other job offer? I do have a slight-to-moderate preference for working with Manhattan. Any advice?

Yes, call them ASAP. But I would caution you to only do so if you would actually accept the job if they throw you in with DA Vance after the 3rd round. They're great about expediting people with current offers, but only if you are actually serious about working at the office.

Nope. All quiet on my end. Do you know anyone else from your school with a final round? I'm fairly certain I'm the only one out of mine. Just trying to see how many of us are being interviewed and what our odds are.

I heard back in less than a week, but a couple friends of mine who work there said they've heard of response times ranging from the next day or so to several months later, so don't lose hope!

I also had my bronx interview in early December and have not heard back. Hopefully they will make more offers after the holidays. I did hear though that they were trying to get the offers out before Christmas.
