I had a CB like that last year at a small firm in a small market. The idea seemed really awkward since you are basically in direct competition with all the other candidates you're meeting, but once it started it was actually fine.

Just tried to schedule my callback (again, NYC) and the first available day wasn't until mid September, so if you get one, schedule that quickly.

FWIW for the MB CHI CB earlier that was probably an isolated incident, knew multiple hiring partners
