Don't really know those TLS terms, but got an interview for an IP 1L SA position in Boston (is this a "screener"??). Surprised..not close to top 10% at a T30.

Did they tell how you the interview would be structured? Are you coming in for one interview (screener), or do you have a schedule lined up for you involving 5-7 interviews and a lunch or dinner (callback)?

It's just with the head of recruiting and 1-2 associates, so by those definitions I guess it's a screener. not holding my breath

Do you guys think its inappropriate to ask firms how many people they are giving callbacks to, and how many they are hiring? I go to school in a far-away location and I don't know if I want to miss class if they are interviewing 12 people for 2 spots - or is that a silly conjecture? Sorry, I'm still new to this process and I don't mean to sound ungrateful.

I'm also in a far-flung place, but since they are (or should be) paying for your travel expenses, this sounds like a good way to shoot yourself in the foot. Missing a few classes right now will have little-to-no effect on your performance on exams in 2-3 months, and you run the risk of coming across as saying "Yeah, so, I just wanted to make sure you guys aren't wasting my time."

If you get a callback and a V100 firm is paying to fly you out/house you, do it. The odds are definitely good enough to be worth missing a day of class. I would not ask them any questions of that nature.

Got dinged at OC gibson after submitting transcript. (Top 25% at CCN). oh well wasn't expecting much

I doubt its an issue of pedigree or grades. Gibson Dunn seemed very ambivalent about taking 1Ls in SoCal in the first place. Id love for someone to post and show they actually have taken a 1L in LA/OC but until then Im skeptical

They were only going to consider taking someone through their diversity program... but I'd also be curious to know if they chose to not even do that

lol process of elimination. Y doesn't do grades first semester and H doesn't give out any info about class rank. H people have a sense of above/below median but certainly nothing as specific as 20%

what's so hard to fathom? if grades were randomly distributed, which of course they aren't, you could calculate your rank exactly. even if they're not randomly distributed, you could roughly estimate. trust me, HS students are already estimating their own unofficial rank. Y students will join them as soon as they get spring grades. lol at "any degree of certainty"

What's the ratio of firms that gives you ding emails/letters vs. ding silences?
Trying to measure when to throw the towel in and go for PI jobs for this summer...

BU/BC/Fordham/GW, ~top 5%.

Asian, applied to 4 or 5 diversity positions.
