I don't like outside pockets :/ but it looks nice. Change the buttons to normal bone buttons if you don't like it .

Yeah the patch pockets gave me a little pause as well. But they don't have my size in the jackets I like at Hugh & Crye and my favorite Havana blazer on suit supply has patch pockets as well so I figured what the hell. If I don't like it I can always return it.

Is the color of these pants appropriate in a non-NYC biz casual office?
http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/pr ... =187136002
Also, just an FYI, BR 100% wool pants are 40% off in stores at the moment. They're awesome.

Are these okay for business casual? Assuming appropriate pants, etc.

I need to share on mountaintop the amazingness of Allen Edmond's factory-second shoes.
They're shoes that have a missing thread or were stamped with the wrong stamp on the insole. You can get Park Aves for $230 and some other shoes, like their Brooks Bros cap toes, for around $165.
Just pick out the shoe you want (http://shoebank.com/), call any location (even if a particular location doesn't have your shoe they will still ship to you in 3-5 business days for free) and order on the phone.
The sales assistant told me they will pick out the shoe you want that has the least amount of imperfections, and that these shoes are basically perfect.

it is a phenomenal program, but the shoes are all defected in some way. many are as described above, but some are serious enough defects that you may want to throw them back (gouges in leather, structural defects in the welt, off-centered broguing or even lasting). unless they've changed the program recently, if you got such a shoe, you would have to pay return shipping. it's still worth it, but do so knowing that you might swing and miss occasionally. especially if you're in an odd size, the associates may not have a choice -- there may only be one in stock.

Anyone know when the Brooks Bros summer sale is? I want to snag some slim fit sport shirts for my SA but would like to wait until I can get them for a bit cheaper.

Re: OCI/callbacks/etc Men's Clothing Mega-thread
Need some suiting advice:
Right now I have a handful of serviceable JAB suits (they are signature gold suits that I got for like 75%+ off over the years and have taken to the tailor etc.). I am starting a biglaw job after my clerkship ends this fall and am thinking of slowly replacing/upgrading some of my suits. My firm is bus. cas. so I won't need very many suits, plus the suits I have right now are okay for the near term so there is not real rush.
My question is: what brands should I target as I seek to upgrade? I guess I would be looking to venture into the $500-$800 range and have the time to wait/look for good deals. Should I look into some of the Suit Supply lines? Maybe look for decent deal on, say, Hugo Boss suits? Brooks brothers? I know ultimately a big factor is fit and I will cross that road when I come to it, but I am just seeking ideas/insights on where to be looking.
Thanks!

Great, thanks for the info!fats provolone wrote:if you're not in a hurry I would just wait for Brooks brothers sales or troll sierra trading post for hickey freeman. I also have found really amazing stuff on ebay
What would you consider a good deal for a hickey freeman on STP? I see most of the stuff on there is like 45-50% off. Is that pretty standard and from there it is just a matter of finding one that you like?
Thanks again--any other insights would be much appreciated.

Re: OCI/callbacks/etc Men's Clothing Mega-thread
above advice is all good. the best way to leverage the fact that you're good in the short/medium term is by trying out a lot of different makers to see just how close of a fit you can get off the rack. i wouldn't get something even on sale unless the fit is great and the suit is a staple. you'll probably miss a deal here or there that you might regret, but it's better to strike out looking than swinging.

Re: OCI/callbacks/etc Men's Clothing Mega-thread
Thanks for the above advice--very helpful.
I have done a little research on Hickey Freeman suits and it seems that the HF suits sold on STP are of their "Lindsey" line (which are half canvased) as opposed to their "main line" (which are fully canvased). Not saying I absolutely need a fully canvased suit or anything but I am just wondering if anyone can comment on the quality of the STP Hickey Freeman suits--perhaps as compared to the BB 1818 line or J Crew suits.

wish i could help, but i got nothin.
an aside: looks like black park avenue seconds will be on sale for $229 starting 6/18, for any rising 2L lurkers looking for OCI shoes. carlyles and strands too. a decent time to hop on the seconds train. sales are fairly frequent, but usually not $70 off the base price. and early enough ahead of OCI where if you do get a pair you're not happy with you can send them back and figure something else out.
this T A&M / TCU game is bananas.

You guys should check out Nordstrom online for ties. The sale section has a pretty good selection of work/interview worthy ties for $25 with free shipping. Just be sure to check the width as they do have some trendy/ugly skinny ties.

Re: OCI/callbacks/etc Men's Clothing Mega-thread
On the AE subject, I'd just wait until the Nordstroms Anniversary sale in July where AE firsts will be in the $250 range. Only select styles and colors, but the staples should be there (Black Park Ave, Walnut Strand, etc). I think Nordstroms members have early access from 7/9 - 7/16, and then it's open to the public after that.sprezz wrote:wish i could help, but i got nothin.

Brooks Brothers semi-annual sale started at 1 am today.
Buy four or more shirts, get 40% off -- a better deal than last year, I think.

Thanks! SA at a business casual firm in a major secondary market, to be precise.Danger Zone wrote:For what purpose?Anonymous User wrote:Any thoughts on this shirt - appropriate or too exciting?

BB doesn't seem to have a very good selection of striped shirts at the moment -- they're out of stock of a lot of sizes, and much of what they have in stock looks too exciting for a SA.

Nordstrom Rack is a pretty good one-stop shop for OCI/SA clothing needs. Especially on a budget.

No. They'll back it out as if you bought only one.norkanite wrote:If I take advantage of the BUY 2 FOR $X Brooks Brothers sales on suits, can I return one pro-rated? No individual sales on 100% wool suits is BS.
