but what do you bench? I think doing poorly on the OCI Combine is what destroyed my chances of getting picked up early.Anonymous User wrote:sometimes i get mistaken for natalia vodianova, but i'm only 5'4 haha!

My disappointing 40-yard-dash time dropped me from a V5 callback down to a V15.Anonymous User wrote:but what do you bench? Re: UChicago 2011 OCI Discussion and Results
Question for somebody who has more a finger on what happened last year: is this year more a case of have/have-nots than before? It seems like almost everybody I talked to who is a 3L this year had 4-6 callbacks from OCI. I might have met maybe a handful who had less than three or more than eight. Maybe this just says more about who I'm talking to versus reality.

Would also like to know, although I think my interviewer had to suppress his laughter as he reviewed my transcript.Anonymous User wrote:interviewer's initials?Anonymous User wrote:Wachtell cb this afternoon. I love how they're making cbs on Saturday of a long weekend...how Wachtell.

To all the 0Ls lurking, b/c let's face it -- we did too: if you're anywhere "around" median, don't rely upon OCI.

Every year around 60-65% of the class get big law jobs. Not everyone is going to finish well above median. Also every year there are people above median who strike out at oci. The reason why is because they are terrible interviewers and probably not very attractive. Benching above 245 helps I hear...

Women should work on their bench press too. This woman did. Now she's at one of the top 2 Chicago firms.

Since this thread gets pretty heavy traffic -- is anyone able to recommend a good tailor for alterations? Ideally in HP.

Re: UChicago 2011 OCI Discussion and Results
Why do people only bid on V10 firms? This is bewildering to me. All of the big firms start at the same rate. Many of the top firms have a reputation for working you ridiculous hours for the same salary (ok, possibly a small additional bonus). Most people will never make equity partner, so profits/partner doesn't seem to matter, but even if they do, how much money do you really need? I can understand bidding on specialized firms that have a strength in an area of interest. But merely bidding on a firm because they've jumped 4 spots and are now in the V10 seems ridiculous. Is there some benefit that I'm not seeing other than saying "I work at Wachtell" and hoping that the girl at the end of the bar knows that that's supposed to be impressive (she doesn't)?

Well the benefit of Wachtell is the chance of a 100% bonus. As far as the other V10 firms are concerned I agree with you. The only benefits I can see are exit options, job security, and of course the prestige.Anonymous User wrote:Why do people only bid on V10 firms? This is bewildering to me. top ~20-25%
26 screeners
4 rejections
5 CBs (one non-OCI)
Bid almost solely Chicago and got relatively burned by that city.

Chicago is so tough this year. I only interviewed with like 6 NYC firms and have 3 CBs from NYC; out of my 15+ Chicago interviews, I have 3 CBs.Anonymous User wrote:top ~20-25%

For Chi, has anyone received callbacks/dings from SNR Denton, Foley, Polsinelli Shughart, or Bryan Cave?

Finally got around to getting the mail that came in yesterday:
Skadden Chi ding
Barack Ferrazzano ding
Mayer Brown Chi ding
niiiiice
Next week is going to be a hoot. I expect to personally feel responsible for the deforestation problem after the inevitable "Thank you for playing" letters start pouring in.
