For what it's worth (I know most of you are Civil), my BOP interviewer told me that this week and next week were devoted to decision-making, and I would know one way or the other before Thanksgiving (presumably Mon-Wed of T-day week).

When did you interview? (Even a date range would be helpful if you're worried about outing yourself.)

I took it to mean just the BOP (especially since everyone is talking about how all departments are different), although I could definitely be mistaken.

This makes me concerned that immigration has already issued offers, since I switched to finalist last week. To me, finalist seems to mean they're going to be issuing offers pretty shortly after, but who knows.

This is the most confusing process I have ever seen.

1. Apparently "selected as finalist" does not mean that you are an actual finalist.
2. Each department has their own style of doing things. IE some have no interviews.

Does this mean that only rejections will go out by the 17th. If we are not rejected by the 17th that means that we are either a primary or secondary candidate?

There was a post a couple of pages back that says that finalist do not see an update on their online status checker. They also claimed to have called in to the DOJ office.

haha im the person who called the doj and made that post, so i think we're the root of some of the confusion, too.

when i called the doj (civil branch), they said that peoples status would be updated to finalist. However, a post that was made on avue earlier said there wouldnt be any status changes.

ok now i am really really confused...
So if you are "selected as a finalist" then it means you are an official finalist? (ie going to get an offer or alternate?)
If we are a finalist and have not been contacted do you think that means that we are alternates?

I know offers for EOIR and OIL have already gone out. We were told we had 28 days, so I'm sure there will be more offers in the upcoming weeks.

Aw.. darn. I was really holding out hope that OIL hadn't made offers yet, since we hadn't heard anything. /hope

Out of curiosity, do you know when the original offers for OIL went out, and if there were any interviews or just a phone call out of the blue with an offer?
