No reputable firm is going to rescind an offer. Take your second looks and make sure you find a fit that is right for you. Having two offers is amazing.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 2:08 amAny chance with how the market is looking, and how stingy firms are being with callbacks/offers, that firms will renege/rescind outstanding offers? I currently only have 2 offers outstanding and paranoid that I should jump on one now.
Is that crazy? I'm reading horror stories on TLS where people had offers rescinded (though this does not seem common, lest I start a panic here)...

I don't have any so far, been mass mailing, in touch with OCS, trying to network and all that stuff--but it's been brutal as hell so far. With that, I'm confident it will work out--but it's taxing, and really, I just want it to be over with.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:25 pmHas anybody else gotten an extremely low number of callbacks, no offers, and are thinking they won't get a job? If we don't get firm jobs this summer, does anybody know how that will affect the job search after graduation?

Agreed: for any V50/V100 firm, rescinding offers would basically be the equivalent of "Lathaming" in the 2008/09 financial crisis, i.e., severe reputational damage for next several years, even if it doesn't affect the firm in the long run. Plus, setting aside the heavy reputational cost, there's very little chance that law firms — of the kind that participate in EIP — are doing so poorly that they'd even need to consider doing this in the first place. (Tons of law firms are saying that 2020 was a "banner" year for them; even if that's puffery, the majority of firms have done OK and are not in desperate "survival" mode.)Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 9:03 amNo reputable firm is going to rescind an offer. No particular advice to offer, just wanted to say you got this! Chin up, you will get through this (hopefully even sooner than you might expect), and you will definitely end up some place great!Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 9:35 amI don't have any so far, been mass mailing, in touch with OCS, trying to network and all that stuff--but it's been brutal as hell so far. Has anyone heard anything from Proskauer NY post-CB? Had one earlier last week and they've been radio silent since.

I meant seeming hesitant at the screening stage. You really have to show enthusiasm and commitment, not appear that you are keeping options open, more so than in previous years.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 12:35 amIs that in the context of refusal to extend pre-WIP offers? Or are you suggesting that firms will rescind offers before their deadlines?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 12:30 amScheduling a second look vs. going silent while you are attending to other callbacks is the way to go. There is a fear of recession looming and where you have some hesitation, there are other candidates more than eager to accept an offer. Firms seem much more focused on the right combination of candidate's competitiveness/fit/desire to join the firm. They may axe you quickly at the slightest incline that you are not committed if you also happen to only marginally meet the other two. May be we will see more firms crawl back later on as people start withdrawing.

Sidley offer. Callback last Thursday AM. The hiring committee met late on Friday but at least some hiring partners did not want to bother people that late so calls are going out today.

Has anyone gotten any DC offers at all yet? Which firms are moving (besides Cleary)?

Not much but I also did a lot of research prior to making my bid list and then again prior to screeners. I’d say know the firm’s general clientele, the practice areas of the lawyers you’re talking to, their “prized” practice group, and then a story for why you ended up there. Thinking through other behavioral questions can help as well

I have been doing an hour or two of research on the internet the night before to get acquainted with the firm and my interviewers. I don't think that its super necessary to know the firm inside and out, but I want to be able to show that I have done my homework.

Same, about 1-2 hours per firm. Enough time to create some "Why firm X?" bullet points and to jot down some questions I want to ask each interviewer (that's assuming I've gotten interviewer names in advance).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 3:51 pmI have been doing an hour or two of research on the internet the night before to get acquainted with the firm and my interviewers. Is it from CB or screening? If CB, would you mind sharing the date of your CB? Thanks!!

So what is the admin's logic for fake-banning pre-oci again? It seems like it was particularly dumb this go around to follow the admin's rule.

There is none and you should never listen to their fake rules. There were plenty of posts in the past about the benefits of pre-EIP.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 5:26 pmSo what is the admin's logic for fake-banning pre-oci again? Gotta admit that the joke is largely on me for thinking that law students & law firms would be willing to honor a set of arbitrary, silly rules (misled because following the rules is always my first instinct).Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 5:37 pmAmazing lesson from law school OCS: policies & rules don't actually matter and you should feel free to disregardAnonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 5:34 pmThere is none and you should never listen to their fake rules. A few data points from last week that might be helpful for people in this thread (and/or posterity) who are tracking offer timing...
DPW: offer received circa one week after CB (lesson - waitlist actually exists? don't give up hope)
S&C: offer received circa 36 hours after CB
CSM: received same day offer, but not immediately at end of interviews as some others have reported
