Any idea of how many finalists they choose for civil rights?

Did anyone who interviewed for civil rights get selected as a finalist yet? Or did they contact references?

Anyone with any inside info/experience know how many finalists there are relative to positions available? On one hand, I wouldn't expect there to be too many finalists relative to positions, because I just can't see a lot of people turning down DOJ honors, but maybe you all at HYS/etc. have a lot more options than us normal folk. On the other hand, why wouldn't you name everyone who is acceptable as a finalist but just slot them lower on the list.

Yes - friend of mine was selected as a finalist. She hasn't been called yet, though.

I'm curious about this too. Someone earlier said that the interview-to-spot ratio in OCIJ, for example, was 4:1. I've heard in past years that for each OCIJ spot there was one offer and two alternates (so three finalists). But I'm not sure how that plays out in other components, where the sheer volume of spots isn't so high.

Only have seen Antitrust NY offer on this forum (and I think NY only hires one). No movement on DC front as far as I can tell.

Nevertheless, the post on Avue makes it clear that if you aren't selected as a finalist by next week, there won't be an offer coming. What "by next week" means is another question...

Thanks! The offer came a few days ago. I received the phone call before I checked Avue so I don't know when my status changed. I checked Avue an hour after the offer and it said "Finalist".

To OCIJ people who were marked as finalists last year, if you were marked but not offered were your references called?

Nothing here either. I assume no status change as well on your end?

No, I have been selected as a finalist. But I also interviewed with EOIR, so can't tell what the status change relates to. No one has contacted my references or me.

Nope, nothing. I wonder if the USAOs will do their own thing in terms of hiring timelines....I just wanna get this over with.

Have any finalists (besides the Antitrust finalists who have already stated they've received offers) received offers yet? It looked like in past years (judging from the TLS threads for 2011 and 2012), a few people started receiving offers the Friday before offers were officially supposed to start.

*hoping really hard that I'm not an alternate*

It seems like a lot of this is a waiting game, and waiting on the references to be available for the phone calls too!

Just posted by Deana Willis:

"I believe that status changes as finalists are selected. We hope that components complete their selections in the next few days but they have the discretion to add finalists at any time. Most will finalize their selections by next week."

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
