What would YP even mean in this case? based on grades?

Gibson NY callback, not invited to dinner. MoFo NY has come back as well

What I mean is I know quite a few people with stellar grades who got dinged at Deb, some with great WE and some without. Also, the ding interviewer spent nearly the entire time talking about why we'd be unhappy at a place like Cravath. Just seems like assumptions were pretty firm. Just my experience - probably means nothing.

I am not quite as annoyed as you, but I had a shit-ton of interviews, possibly the most in the entire school. My grades were median. Bid in a smaller market with decent ties, and in NY. Got three CBs in NY and nothing in the smaller market.

Did a mock with OCS on Thursday and they fine tuned my performance in certain areas. Had 11 interviews after that, and seven of them felt really good. Did not get one more callback.
Depends on what smaller market? From what I've heard DC and some of the Cali markets are developing bloodbaths this year, even for H students. People are getting something, but not necessarily 10+ cbs.

Yeah, I heard that this happened to someone else (or maybe it was you).

DC is a bloodbath if you don't have grades, Cali is a bloodbath if you don't have ties.

Friend who got every single firm he/she applied to last year (basically the most selective in every major market -- SF, LA, Boston, DC, NY) still got an offer from Deb. Not sure if it's YP.

So OCS always talks about how lots of firms can be slow and take days to week to give cbs. However it seems that almost every major firm has given cbs already and quickly. So at what point, if not already, should I assume no more CBs are coming and finalize all my callbacks and set my schedule. Wilmer DC seems like it might not call ppl till monday but otherwise what othet v20 firms should one wait on?

I personally get the impression that with the possible exception of firms that interviewed Friday, the CBs are largely done for the huge firms. Sure, there's the exception every year where someone gets a callback nine days later - you can see this in all the previous EIP threads, and in Columbia's this year. But it seems that the vast majority of the callbacks go out in lumps in the day after the interview.

Has anyone heard from OCS that you're at any disadvantage in terms of getting an offer if you interview, say, the second week of flyouts?

30 interviews, 3 callbacks, pretty average grades, thought I was a decent interviewer (and OCS didn't disagree). I was looking at the CB/Offer rate, and thinking that 60% or so means that I have a decent shot. Then it occurred to me that screeners to callbacks is like a 45% success rate and I batted a solid 10%. Now I'm freaking out.

Most firms are telling me the first available interview is our second week. Keep in mind that many schools haven't done OCI yet.

Well, I honestly think that 3 CBs will almost certainly get an offer. Also, there are a lot of CBs still to come from Thursday / Friday screeners.

And the third week also, especially for non-NYC firms? If we are applying to two cities can we do one the week of the 27th and one the week of the 4th- does that make sense?

Anyone heard from Gunderson, Fenwick, Cooley or Wilson Sonsini? Got MoFo on Friday, but otherwise it's been dead silent on the SF/SV front. I know they are always slow, but some of them were pretty early in the week this year.

I hope you're right. It's one thing though to be on the wrong side of the 45-50% callback equation. But Cahill, for example, calls back 80% of the people they interview, I thought it went well, and I didn't get a callback. I didn't get one reach, although I chose them very carefully. I didn't get many of my targets, although I chose those even more carefully. Seriously, bidding with average grades, prepared pretty well, and I can't get Katten, Chadbourne, Kaye Scholer? Kill me now.

ETA: I get that this sounds like Harvard entitlement douchiness. But it's also true that I bid extremely carefully, prepared extremely thoroughly, interviewed in a way that I thought was good. I did a mock with OCS during the week and I also contacted a partner who rejected me to improve my interviewing. I put myself on the line 30 times, and was rejected 27. So indulge me the douchiness for a bit.

Starting off flyout week with a midnight Cooley Boston ding.. at this point, I am just getting a steady stream of bad news after early successes have passed.

Did you just just bid D.C. or Cali? I've heard they take a while. A friend of mine had subpar grades and still has double digits CB's. While they barely bid NYC they had strong ties to the other markets they bid. If you didn't bid heavy NYC or places you have strong ties to it'll probably just take some time. Keep your head up and I agree with the above poster 3 CBs should net you at least one offer.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
