Re: CLS EIP 2011
I don't think we're being affected by HLS OCI... at the screening stage, most firms have different recruiting teams for CLS and HLS. Given that firms recruit at these schools year after year (and HLS OCI has traditionally been much later than ours), I think it's more that they have a certain standard/target number at CLS and maybe a slightly lower standard/higher target number at HLS.Anonymous User wrote:my theory is that the middle firms - i.e. the ones who haven't made calls - are going to try to trade up. top firms and bottom firms will get the same crop of people anyway from both schools, but middle firms will try to see who they get at HLS before they make CLS calls.
of course, it may also be that the recruiting team is just swamped trying to deal with HLS EIP... especially because many HLS kids are interviewing for NYC firms, so you'd have to bring the NYC recruiting team up to Boston, which then of course precludes them from discussing CLS candidates. either way, by the time they get around to CLS kids, we're going to be in the same pool for comparison as HLS. HLS EIP goes until the 19th so buckle your seatbelts and hang on for the ride, kids.
If anything, we will be affected during the callback stage -- more offers will go out to HLS since candidates from both schools are being considered at the same time. I'm pretty sure HLS moved up their OCI for this effect.

Re: CLS EIP 2011
This seems to be moving extremely slow. At first I thought that with just a handful of callbacks I had screwed up, but it's sounding increasingly like this is the norm for now. I wonder why it's going like this. The Harvard explanation may be a good one.

Re: CLS EIP 2011
It definitely does seem as though the top 10 or so firms are making decisions relatively quickly, while lower ranked firms appear to be waiting a bit. This could definitely be because of HLS; firms with a lot of mid-range candidates are looking at similar people that the two schools, and might prefer HLS, whereas top 10 or top 20 firms may be targeting more selective candidates and know who they are looking for right away, so they want to start recruiting now.

It could mean anything - you could be in a hold pile, or your interviewer just might not have gotten around to finalizing his decision - and there could be a CB or a ding on the way. Try to keep your mind off of this, it'll do you no good. Good luck and concentrate on your remaining interviews and any CBs you already know of.Anonymous User wrote:What should I be expecting if, say, I didn't get a Cleary CB, but also haven't gotten a rejection?
At this point, I think if you interviewed somewhere on Thursday and still haven't heard back, (though you probably already did) start moving on. Especially if it's a big firm like DPW, Cleary, etc. and the like....

don't give up hope until you get a rejection. You have no idea what is going on with your interviewer/file.
